The satellite Kosmos 2285 was an experimental earth observation satellite. It was reportedly a prototype for the planned Obzor series of earth observation satellites, which was eventually not developed.
Kosmos 2285 reportedly carried a multispectral camera KOE-OZ with a resolution of 75 meters.
The satellite was launched on 2 August 1994 by an Kosmos-3M launch vehicle into an orbit, which was typical for the earlier Zaliv navigation satellites.
