SpaceICE [Northwestern University]
The SpaceICE is a 3U CubeSat mission by the Northwestern University in cooperation with UIUC and Bradley University to investigate convective effects on solid/lLiquid interface dynamics in the freeze-casting process.
SpaceICE is a scientific investigation mission to run freeze-casting experiments that will collect temperature and video data over the course of six months. Images will be analyzed on the ground to measure solidification velocity, dendrite and wall width, and particle concentration.
It was selected in 2017 by NASA's CubeSat Launch Initiative (CSLI) to be launched as part of the ELaNa program.
