As of May, 2025, this here Old Corral website celebrated 27 years on the Internet. During those years, I've received many e-mails asking for my opinion on ONE PERSON that exemplifies the B western genre. Could e a hero, sidekick, heroine, director, etc.

Time for me to answer that question and select my B western G O A T, the "Greatest Of All Time". Will do some further thinking and announce my selection after the Christmas and New Year holidays and my daughters wedding in February.

If you have a G O A T opinion - and want to influence me - e-mail your choice and reasons for your recommendation. One rule - we're dealing with the sound B western, circa 1929 - 1954 or so. So please don't suggest William S. Hart, Clint Eastwood, Joel McCrea, Randolph Scott, Audie Murphy, etc.

February 26, 2026 and the results are in ! Received about 125 e-mail votes from website visitors. In second place - tied at about 20 votes each - were singing cowboy Gene Autry and William Boyd as 'Hopalong Cassidy'.

But neither were my choice as the #1 person that had the greatest impact on the old B western.

My selection as the Old Corral GOAT Award / Greatest Of All Time is YAKIMA CANUTT (1895 - 1986) . He was superb and a summary of his movie accomplishments and career follows:
