Childrenite from
Tip Top Mine, Fourmile, Custer Mining District, Custer County, South Dakota, USA

Locality type:Open-Cast Mine
Classification
Species:Childrenite
Formula:Fe2+Al(PO4)(OH)2 · H2O
Comments:No data to support the listing. Only pertinent statement is in Campbell, T. and Roberts, W., 1986, Minerals of the Tip Top Mine, Custer, Custer Co., South Dakota, Mineralogical Record, v. 17, p. 237-254, which only states that the mineral has an intermediate composition in the eosphorite-childrenite series with no implication that an iron-dominant composition was found to contradict previous reports. Virtually all worldwide eosphorites have an "intermediate" composition in the series.
