Ankerite from
Dufferin mines, Halifax Co., Nova Scotia, Canada

Locality type:Mine
Classification
Species:Ankerite
Formula:Ca(Fe2+,Mg)(CO3)2
Comments:The brown to tan rhombohedral crystal from this locality are certainly an iron-bearing carbonate, but they look as though they are from the calcite group, probably siderite, rather than ankerite from the dolomite group. Analyses are lacking.
