| Comments: | As blue, translucent, 90°-twinned crystals, usually elongated according to [001] showing the simple combination of the tetragonal prism {110} and the tetragonal pyramid {111}, giving the impression of a sword or a cross. In the centre of the twins, primary crystals were observed in all cases. Crystals are striated perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, probably due to alternating growth of two crystal planes.; Also as short prismatic, pseudocubic, grey, dull, crystals altering to "hydro-cassiterite" (= Varlamoffite) due to hydration.; As white acicular crystals in a single specimen.; Twins and short prismatic forms are associated with gypsum, zincite and "hydro-cassiterite" (= Varlamoffite). Prismatic, untwinned, colorless to pale yellow crystals up to 2mm are associated with gypsum and magnetite. | |
