Juddite from
Pawnia (Ponia), Balaghat District, Jabalpur Division, Madhya Pradesh, India

Locality type:Deposit
Classification
Species:'Juddite' (not an IMA approved species)
Comments:Small light red and deep red grains and slender prisms. The deep red amphibole may form aggregates up to 3 in. The red amphiboles occur with "winchite" in a pegmatite vein intruded into a quartz schist with lenticles of manganese ore. At the contact with the quartz schist, the pegmatite is fine grained and contains small grains of the light red amphibole. With increasing grain size further away from the contact, larger grains of the light red amphibole occur. In the central portions of the pegmatite, the deep red amphibole is present together with large crystals of blanfordite.
