About Diallage
Name:
Named in 1801 by Rene Just Haüy. Its name derives from the Greek word diallaghé (meaning change, transform, difference).
Most commonly this name was applied to a variety of the pyroxene group (diopside-hedenbergite-augite solid-solution series) specifically showing prominent {001} parting and originally supposed to be a distinct species. The name has also been widely used for other similar-appearing minerals, particularly orthopyroxene (e.g metalloidal diallage = hypersthene and talkartiger diallage = diaclasite (enstatite)); also used for lizardite, clintonite, actinolite and other minerals.
