Formula:
Cu6(Cu4Hg2)Sb4Se12Se
Colour:
Grey-brown to creamy-white
Lustre:
Metallic
Hardness:
4½
Specific Gravity:
6.3 (Calculated)
Crystal System:
Isometric
Name:
Originally named hakite, without the suffix, in honour of Jaroslav Hak (b. 1931, Kutna Hora, Czechoslovakia), geologist and mineralogist in former Institute of Ore Research in Kutná Hora and then in the Czech Geological Survey in Prague. The suffix was added later with the acceptance of the IMA 18-K proposal.
Isostructural with:
Tetrahedrite Group. Compare the chemically very similar pošepnýite, which may be its Hg4Cu2 analogue.

Renamed from hakite due to the acceptance of the IMA 18-K proposal.
