Formula:
(Mg,Fe)17Si20O54(OH)6
Crystal System:
Monoclinic
Name:
For its structural difference from chesterite.
Dimorph of:
A biopyribole mineral. The current correct name is UM1978-22-SiO:FeHMg (see the synonym). For all four similar biopyriboles (chesterite, jimthompsonite, clinojimthompsonite and "clinochesterite"): physical and optical properties similar to those of Ca-low amphiboles; cleavage angles lower than those of amphiboles; chemically intermediate between anthopyllite and talc.
