Formula:
~(Mg,Fe)Al4Si4O12(OH)8
Colour:
pale yellow in thin section
Reported as "Unnamed hydrous Fe-Mg-aluminosilicate". Compositionally similar to magnesiocarpholite.
Product of cordierite alteration. A composition similar to the given one was also obtained for a phase formed likely in expense of a cordierite that replaced biotite.
Beside cordierite the associated phases are almandine, biotite, corundum, hematite, hercynite, ilmenite, magnetite, Na-rich plagioclase, orthoclase (incl. a microperthite), quartz, and sillimanite.
