Reported as Mss, that is a Fe-Ni-S system (solid solution) formulated as Fe1-xS-Ni1-xS, that exists at temperatures equal to or larger than 300oC.

Occurs as replacement of pentlandite.

Compare shenzhuangite.

Association/occurrence:
- Hongge: chalcopyrite, pentlandite, pyrite, pyrrhotite, siegenite, violarite, and vanadian-titanian magnetite (basic-ultrabasic rocks)
- Jinchuan: cubanite, pentlandite, pyrrhotite, other sulfided (ore-containing ultramafic dykes)
- a kimberlite in Russia: djerfisherite, pentlandite, pyrrhotite
- Mt. Shasta: in spherules within tephra
