A structural variant of Quintinite
This page is currently not sponsored. Click here to sponsor this page.
Formula:
Mg4Al2(OH)12(CO3) · 3H2O
Crystal System:
Trigonal
A polytype of Quintinite
A polytype of the natural layered double hydroxide (LDH) quintinite.
The crystal structure is based upon double hydroxide layers [M2+,3+(OH)2] with 36 disordered distribution of Mg, Al and Fe and with the
layers stacked according to a 37 rhombohedral type. The stacking sequence of layers can be expressed as ...=АB=BC=CA=. (Zhitova et al. 2017)
Compare meixnerite.
