First natural purely gold oxidic mineral and first natural purely gold oxyhydroxide.
A product of gold oxidation. As round grains, below 0.1 microns in diameter; rims around gold. Also associated with feroxyhyte, lepidocrocite, hematite, magnetite, and Fe & Bi tellurates. Deposited prior to goethite formation.
Light violet or purple in reflected light.
Other oxidic gold minerals are UM1993-29-TeO:AuPb, UM1993-30-TeO:AuPb, UM1998-11-O-AuHSb, and 'Unnamed (Auroantimonate)'.
Electron microprobe analysis results, wt.%: Au 67.06 61.72, 67.57; Ag 5.53; Si 2.14 ; O generally ~25, Cl insignificant.
