Arab Satellite 813 []
Arab Satellite 813 (Alianqiu 813) is an Earth observation satellite developed under the leadership of the United Arab Emirates. The project is implemented by the National Space Science and Technology Center at United Arab Emirates University, UAE.
The mission represents the first joint Arab satellite initiative, aimed at enabling scientists and researchers from Arab countries to participate directly in the development, operation, and utilization of space technologies. It serves as a platform for building shared scientific capabilities and strengthening regional cooperation in space research and applied Earth observation.
A central objective of the mission is the acquisition of advanced Earth observation data using hyperspectral imaging. The satellite is intended to support scientific research, environmental monitoring, and resource analysis by providing high-resolution spectral information suitable for detailed surface characterization.
The project was awarded to the National Space Science and Technology Center (NSSTC) at United Arab Emirates University. NSSTC is responsible for system development, payload integration, and mission implementation. Arab Satellite 813 is the first satellite in the UAE to employ hyperspectral imaging technology, marking a technological milestone for the national space program.
The hyperspectral payload operates with 205 discrete spectral bands, enabling fine-grained analysis across a wide range of wavelengths. This capability allows for precise identification of surface materials and improved data quality compared to multispectral systems. The satellite is designed for detailed Earth surface observation and advanced data processing applications.
