
CSTB 3 [Boeing]
The CSTB 3 (CubeSat TestBed32) cubesat was a planned a 1.5 kg Nanosatellite for technical research. An Integrated Defense Systems Advanced Systems team of engineers at Huntington Beach, Calif., is building the spacecraft as a testbed for components that will be used in Boeing's development of nanosatellites (spacecraft weighing less than 10 kg).
The mission of the 4 kg CSTB 3 was to demonstrate 3-axis attitude control with a complete ADCN (Attitude Determination, Control and Navigation) subsystem, a communications system with higher communication data rates featuring a deployable high-gain S-band dish antenna. Also onboard autonomy and an advanced dynamic power management were to be tested
It was to be the first of a family of spacecraft designs representative of Boeing's new Tensor small-spacecraft avionics architecture, which will be the core of a wide array of missions.
The satellite was to be flight ready in Summer 2009, but was never launched.
