Türksat 6A

Türksat 6A [TAI]

Türksat AS ordered in 2014 the Türksat 6A communications satellite from TÜBITAK-UZAY. The satellite is the first geostationary communcations satellite to be built in Türkiye (Turkey).

Türksat-6A will feature 16 Ku-band transponders for commercial and civil telecommunications and two X-band transponders for military communications. Aselan Electronic Industries of Türkiye (Turkey) in April 2014 contracted with MDA Corp. of Canada to provide the military X-band payload to cover the territory of Türkiye (Turkey).

Development and construction of the satellite has begun in early 2015. It is expected to be completed in December 2020. Launch was planned for 2023, but has been delayed to July 2024.
