Wisseed Sat [Wisseed Academy]

Wisseed Sat, a 1U-CubeSat developed by Wisseed Academy of Japan and supported by Mitsui Bussan Aerospace Co., Ltd., is a passive educational satellite designed to carry children’s baby teeth into space.

The mission of Wisseed Sat is based on a traditional Japanese custom in which children throw their lost baby teeth onto rooftops to wish for healthy growth. By sending these teeth into orbit, the project aims to create a symbolic extension of this cultural practice. The initiative is primarily educational, intended to engage children with space activities and stimulate interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

Wisseed Academy is responsible for the conceptual development and educational framework of the satellite. Mitsui Bussan Aerospace Co., Ltd. acts as the service provider, supporting integration and access to launch opportunities. The satellite itself does not incorporate active subsystems or payload operations, reflecting its symbolic and outreach-oriented purpose.

It was launched in August 2024 onboard of Cygnus CRS-21 to the ISS, where it was deployed on 29 August 2024.
