Yamal 201 [Gazkom]
JSC Gascom is currently developing the Yamal communication system and is manufacturing two Yamal-200 communications satellites. One of them, Yamal 201, carries a C- and Ku-band payload and will be positioned at 90 E, colocated with Yamal-102 (C-band), that provides back-up and possibility to develop Yamal-100 users' networks. The use of Ku-band will broaden range of telecommunication services that JSC Gascom provides. Thus, operation of two Yamal-200 series satellites in 2003 will provide guaranteed orbital back-up for the Yamal-102 satellite, form a basis for further development of Gazprom corporate communication network, and will broaden scope and number of telecommunication services through Yamal satellite network.
Yamal 201 failed in 2014 and drifted off station without being removed form the geostationary belt.
