I just joined because I caught a pigeon today. I saw it on my walk home from work yesterday next to a busy street with a mangled wing so I herded it onto an equipment lot. It was still there today so I trapped it against a fence and brought it home. If its still alive in the morning I'll bring it to a vet and then someone will pick it up to take care of it.

I might post a photo of it later if any turned out

At my Grandma's house there's this pigeon that hangs around like it lives there.

...ok that wasn't very interesting...

Today, as I was walking to class there were two people walking at me with a gap inbetween them. I decided to walk through the gap and there was a pigeon standing right there. He saw me coming turned one way, saw one person, turned the other way, saw the other person, freaked out and jumped in the air. They people had passed him at this point and he found a direction to go in. Unfortunately it was right in my path and he got freaked out again.

While camping, I saw about three hawks..two flying, one sleeping in a tree. A whole bunch of blackbirds were chilling in this bushy area and would fly out in large groups at a time whenever Liz and I took another step closer. We saw two herons..up close! We were coming down this trail by some water and all of a sudden we hear this loud splash, we look and see this heron take off from only about ten feet away from us. He flew a bit down the river and was sitting on a log. We watched him for a bit and then he took off. A bit further down though we saw this other bird sitting on a log, we thought he was a heron but weren't sure, so we went down to check it out. We found out it was a heron but I got too close because I wasn't sure where he was so he took off. I was sad for missing a good photo op, but what can you do?

I thought I saw a pigeon today that only had one leg. I thought it was really cool how he was out and about, but it turned out that he just stuck it inside of his stomach for safe keeping. oh well...

Then another one was walking with me, when I sped up, he would speed up. When I slowed down he would slow down and move farther away from me. It was cool.

So, I get to school early this morning and someone has thrown a butt load of bread on the ground. There was a mosh pit of pigeons in front of the Warrior Grille and it was awesome. I made a point of walking through them, some of them didn't want to move because of the bread, so I probably could have tried to grab one, but I didn't want to disturb their breakfast. I also noticed that there were about 6 pigeons fighting over this one piece of bread while there was about 5 pieces left alone. It shows that birds are competitive over food and I found that interesting.

I saw this super cool pigeon the other day. It had a white head, pink body, that got darker and became reddish, and a white under-tail. It was so cool, much different from your typical gray/black/brownish pigeons, I tells ya. Ok with that out of the way, here's the community survey. :D

How do you feel when a bird flies over your head? kind of scared and worried that they may let something go

If you could make a new bird, what would it look like and what would you call it? I would make a real bat-like thing from the Dark Crystal, because those were so cool and everyone should own one (sorry, I don't have much imagination right now to actually come up with my own idea)

Have you ever been attacked by a bird? If so, describe your experience. I've had many close encounters with birds, that's for sure. They're onto my plot of trying to capture a pigeon and make a legion of pigeon minions, so they want me out of the way.

How often do you watch/hunt birds? Everytime I'm outside...I don't really get good obervations of them though, unless I'm at school, so I guess you can say throughout two days a week.

I've been driving around for a bit...not for fun, unfortunately, but because I have to go places, and I've noticed that many birds have been flying in front of my car. Not just crossing the street, but staying in front of my car and kind of leading me for a bit. It has to be one of the coolest sights I've seen for awhile. Anyone else have this happen to them?

Also, the other day, I was walking to my class and went through this trail that had hay lying on it. There were a whole bunch of little sparrows pecking away and pidgeons as well. As I got closer, they all took off; except for this one pidgeon who decided to fly towards me. He flew very close by and at the last second turned in front of me and was inches away from hitting me with his wings. It was awesome! I've had more experiences like this but that's because I think they're on to me...*looks around* This one was different it seems though, I don't think it was his intention to hit me, just give me a sight.

This is your creator/moderator, Alia. I wanted to say hi and welcome you all to the first community for pidgeon hunters! I myself have been working on capturing a pidgeon to train it and get it to love me. So far, no luck. But one day I shall have one of my own. Think about it...you get one to trust you then you get a few more and before you know it, you have millions of pidgeons to do your biddings.

Alright, enough of my rant. I want to hear about your favourite birds and what you like about them. I also love seeing pictures, so any bird pictures you have, please feel free to post!
