This is a community for continuing and recovering academic phenoms. It's not exclusive to academia, TAs, RAs, professors, or teachers. Seriously, anyone can join.
Constructive criticism, skepitism, satire, and sardonic are welcome, but please try to keep negative attitudes to a minimum. Light-hearted humor, jesting, banter, and keeping it upbeat are encouraged. Heck, if you are having a crap day, post here for pick-me-ups. We are just that nice. However, if you are a really cranky person who becomes enraged at the slightest misuse of a comma, you probably shouldn't be here.
People who SHOULD be here: - People who haven't lost faith in humanity - People who enjoy teaching - People who believe negativity breeds more negativity, and that's a bad thing - People who believe academia has become bogged down by an obsession with minutae and would like to change this image/objective - People who like to enact positive change - People who understand what a fundamental attribution error is - People who, despite everything, try to remain optimistic
General reminders - Please be respectful of other community members - Try to remember not everyone has had the same experiences you have - Don't make assumptions: listen and ask questions
We're not here to do your homework, but we won't bombast you for asking help.
Bashing other members for any reason, especially lack of experience, will not be tolerated.
