I'd like to be friends with some cool people who have mental issues, so that we can lean on each other when we need to. I also would like to offer up my favorite message board to anyone who has BPD or thinks they might or has BPD traits: www.bpdhaven.proboards.com/index.cgi
It's the BPD haven and it's a great place.
Anyway, anyone who wants to can friend me... although my journal is usually just me complaining really.. it's not exciting or anything.

Well,
I've had to reset the counter back to zero. Which to tell you the truth annoys the f**k outta me.
Sometimes I think I'm doing really well and I'm coping, and for a while I might think, "I'm gonna make it thru this, I might just be okay." Then some terrible, terribleness that has been waiting in the wings jumps out and goes, "haha, we fooled you! Life is shit, here have some more issues! *gift wrapped*"
Oh, why do I always fall back to old behaviours? They are so unhelpfull and I know that, and the worst thing is after I did it I did not feel any better and still had to have a huge form filling session with my therapist. And then the Doctor had a big lecture for me, and it's not like I could run away from her, they practically tied me to a chair.
I'm gonna put what happened under a cut. DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU MIGHT BE TRIGGER
( This is what happenedCollapse )

- I'm 33.
- I live in Pittsburgh, PA, USA.
- Was diagnosed with major depressive disorder, OCD, Panic Disorder, Dysthymia, and social anxiety/phobia years ago. Those diagnoses lasted 10 years.
- Early this year those diagnoses were dropped for BPD (the dysthymia still stands).
- I'm currently on 100mg of Seroquel twice a day, 60mg of Paxil, .5mg of Klonopin 3 times a day, 150mg of Wellbutrin SR 2 times a day, and 400mg of Seroquel to sleep.
- I feel the best I've felt in a while, but that can, and does, change quickly. I have episodes a couple of times a month. I get serious mood swings, and my rage can be downright scary. I feel much more balanced now that I have the correct medication.
Besides all this craziness, I'm a nerdy freak! :) I'd love to make some new friends that understand living with mental illness, so check out my profile and add me if you like!
Take care all! :)

Hello Darlings,
Hi,
I'm Nic, I'm 26 years old and I live in New Zealand.
I was diagnosed with BPD, in 2004 during a hospital stay.
I have been bouncing around various programs and on various meds since I was 16.
I have self-harmed in the past but have been 'clean' of this for around 5 months. -(this time)
Getting diagnosed was really a Godsend for me because for once I fit in. The symptoms were my symptoms, and I was just so pleased to realise that I was not the only one in the entire world who feels like this.
I still struggle a lot with my emotional regulation, and interpersonal relationships. But looking back on where I've come from I realise that I have made so significant changes in my life.
I used to be suicidal and now I'm not. I used to hurt myself several times a day. I don't want to trigger anyone so I won't go into details but I am lucky I'm not dead. Well lucky is an interseting choice of word but still...
Now I've come to the point where I have to decide where I'm gonna got to next, and to be honest that thought scares the shit outta me, because for so, so long I have been 'Nic- with problems'
Something to be dealt with or fixed or managed.
I am just about to begin a six month, intensive DBT training program. They say they can cure me, I'm sceptiacal... but at this stage3 I am willing to try because I want to move on and not have this control my life anymore.
So I would love to hear from anybody, People at the same stage as me, people less far on their journey who I can encourage, and people who have made it and can say that it can be done.
Have a beautiful day.
Nic

My life has never been "normal" by popular standards.
My father was an alcoholic and a drug addict before I was born. He took peyote one night and prayed to God to let him meet the right woman, the one that would save his life... The very next day he saw a beautiful glowing blond-haired woman, reading stories to a group of black kids outside of a fair ride. (he was a carny)... and he KNEW that he had found his angel. A couple years later, clean and sober, he convinced my mother to have me and I was born January 22nd 1985 in Louisville, KY. My mother passed away unexpectedly and tragically on Thanksgiving of last year 2007, which was the worst year of my life. thank the higher power for the birth of my now 14 month old son, Gabriel Joseph.
At age 10 I began to show signs of Obsessive Compulsive disorder, yet my parents dd not believe in psychiatry, so I suffered through it. At age 14 I ran away from home and was raped. At age 16 I became pregnant with my oldest child, a daughter, whom I believe has saved my life. i ahve two other children now. My oldest is 7, middle is 4 (another daughter), and my little man is 1yr old.
On a sad note- My mother was everything to me. She was my greatest support person and my best friend. Losing her made me spiral out of control. RIP MOMMY November 28th 1950- November 22nd 2007. She had a Livejournal. It was </a></b></a>
I welcome fellow diagnosed BPD sufferers to add this LJ, for I need the support. I've been keeping this all private until now, especially from my frends on my primary LJ. PLEASE feel free to add me and I will add you back. i want to make new friends that truly understand what it is like to have BPD and what it is that we go through.
