running update...
First, sorry I haven't updated...I've been a wee bit busy.  Second, per a post by fairouz, should we change the name of this community so it's not just for running?  Just putting it out there.
Went out for 3.2 miles yesterday, after three days off, my legs were a little sore yesterday but I actually did pretty well.  Today I'm shooting for 4, I want to start into a 3-4-3-5 routine to help for the 10k I'm doing in June.  And, of course, I need to start pushing it a little more to get ready for the marathon!
I have to say I've become addicted to running outside, not only does it give you something more interesting to look at and focus on, but I think the fresh air and sun does something physiologically (if I"m using the word right) that actually puts me in a really good mood.  If it's drizzling or cold I'll even go out (though not in hard core rain, that's too hard), just to avoid the treadmill cause I've actually grown to despise the treadmill.  I'm such a snob!

Quick Running Update
I only ran three miles yesterday, but it seemed to go well, and I'm hoping to be able to do between 3 and 5 tonight (depending on: 1) my energy, 2) my mood and 3) the time). I've printed out the registration form for the 5k on the 22nd, but have not yet mailed it in. I think mailing it in will be a good excuse for me to NOT go to the Tiki Bar opening, but at the same time I feel I should because I'm not sure if I'm social enough. Oh, well. Definitely need to run tonight to work off those brownies...

I'd love it if this could be an all-around fitness community rather than just one for runners, as I haven't been doing much running lately. Anyway, here's my update.

Run along now.
Today I ran the usual route that we always run. I seems to get easier each time. My cardo conditioning seems to be pretty good right now. I have no problem breathing when I run. I ran today when I really did not feel like it. I did it anyway thinking that it is suppose to rain all weekend. Maybe those days I can do some strength training. One of my friends notice the results of me running and working out. It felt nice to be noticed of the hard work that I have put to improve my health and physical fitness. I am trying to increase my time running the three miles. I could only muster an average of thirty minutes for the whole run. There are two more weeks left before the main event. I am looking forward to it.

Update...
Very proud of myself because I managed to run five days this week.  Also, my time seems to be improving.  I say "seems" because I always forget a watch to actually time myself, I try not to worry too much about minutes and seconds.
Purchased a new pair of running shoes yesterday, new balance, which I like because they have different widths, and I have wide feet.  I had gotten cheap shoes when I started (about three months ago), and said if I stuck with it I could get a better pair.  So I stuck with it (so far) and bought a new pair of shoes.  At a great price, they were buy one, get one, so me and the hubby each got a pair and the total was less than $80.  Awesome.
So, short term goal is to increase one of my 3 mile runs to a 4 miler this week.  Long term goal, by April, I'd like to finish the 3k in 27 minutes.  Anybody else have any goals?

Introductory Post/Personal Challenge...
Thanks for making a running community--I love being able to discuss my good (and bad!) runs. I ran this morning, but it was a small run (only 3 miles), and I'll admit I went somewhat slowly. Tomorrow we have a brunch (eep!), so I'll probably only do the elliptical, but may wait to run until the afternoon and try to stretch to 5 or 6 so I can begin building mileage for another marathon. Sometimes I find when I run in the afternoon I actually do a little better than when I run in the morning, which is funny because I *prefer* running in the morning so I can get the sweating and whatnot overwith.
Anyway, I'll use this as a tracking goal: Tomorrow I aim to run five miles. I'll post to let everyone know whether or not I actually do it. Sunday's a big one; I want to try to go for an 8-miler!! :-)

(Miles run today: 3; Time: No clue because I forgot my watch)

New Community!
I've started a new community, as I couldn't find a running community somehow associated with pro ana. I'm still a beginning runner, I run 3 miles about 4 times a week. I have my first race in April, a 5k, and I'm hoping to run a marathon in the fall. Hope this community meets everyone's needs!
