Welcome to Ambiance Icons! This community is a gathering of icon-makers who wish to display their icons in one central location. The members of this community are listed below. All of the entries in this journal are Friends Only. All you have to do is join the community to become listed as a friend. However, only those super-special members that run this community can post their icons. If you want to become one of those few, please reply to this post with a comment. It's that easy.
Rules! - Do not take an icon without posting. Make sure we know which icon you have decided to take.
- If an icon had been listed as "Not for Grabs" or something like that (or maybe being for someone else), do not take that icon.
- GIVE CREDIT! Let other people know where you got your icon! When you credit, you type in the keyword/comment line thing for the taken icon as: (artist@ambiance_icons) or (username).
- When requesting an icon, be as specific as possible. And please be patient. The icon-maker might take a very long time to create, depending on the schedule of the maker her/himself.
All of this copyright stuff is confusing. Now, we may or may not hold the copyright to the images used, but the icons-makers (or icon-artists) do hold the copyright to the specific layers and make-up of the icon... Meaning how it's put together. The base is not ours, yet the pixels we added in by hand, the lyrics we wrote, the tiny animations we made... They are ours and using our icons without consent or credit, taking our icons as your own... Well, that's just naughty. So stick that in your pipe and smoke it. Also, if you justify stealing icons by saying "They didn't take that picture!", well, neither did you. And I didn't see you slaving away on the icon, adding those pixels... So it's just common curtesy. This way you know where you got the icon from and can come back to get more like it... Also, if someone else sees the icon and wants one like it, they also know where to go for more. How to credit? If you are using the new LiveJournal layout (the nice and blue and white one), click once on "Manage" and the bar below will change. Click on "User Pictures." Upload your icon. It should take you back to the same screen. From here, go down to the icon. Next to the icon, there is a blank white box. Fill in the user who created your icon along with the name of this community, as well as a keyword if you wish. This could look like: Keyword (artist@ambiance_icons). Or it could be: Terrance and Philip (kat@ambiance_icons). Or, if you wanted to make it shorter: Terrance and Philip (utreehuginhippi). It's that easy. For the old style or if you can't follow my instructions, just go to this page and upload and complete the Keyword box as noted. Now there's this nifty comment line thing on icons. These words can go there, too.
