Sometimes we just have to let go, because if two people are crazy about each other, then what's stopping them? We complain how hard it is to find love in this world, so why do we reject it when it's staring us in the face? Because as hopelessly romantic as we all are, the perfect love will not come waltzing into our lives with a flashing neon sign for us to read. Sure we've all made the mistake of falling for the wrong person, but if we never take that risk, that one leap of faith, we're never going to find our true loves, now are we?
"If you play it safe in life you've decided that you don't want to grow anymore."
"Love takes off masks that we fear we cannot live without and know we cannot live within"

Happy Pi day, friends!
In honor of this mathy holiday, here is a link to a pi-themed-sudoku puzzle.
Here's a completely unrelated video of a cat playing the piano:

I haven't seen the new Harold and Kumar movie, but having seen this clip, I am sure this would be my favorite part BY FAR. It. is. awesome.
And for those of you too lazy to watch the video, the following is the poem recited.
I'm fear that I will always be A lonely number like root three
The three is all that's good and right, Why must my three keep out of sight Beneath the vicious square root sign, I wish instead I were a nine
For nine could thwart this evil trick, with just some quick arithmetic
I know I'll never see the sun, as 1.7321 Such is my reality, a sad irrationality
When hark! What is this I see, Another square root of a three
As quietly co-waltzing by, Together now we multiply To form a number we prefer, Rejoicing as an integer
We break free from our mortal bonds With the wave of magic wands
Our square root signs become unglued Your love for me has been renewed
... I know that loving that scene as much as I do make me a gigantic geek.

I love post-it notes and Donkey Kong, and apparently so do these engineers.
Now if only the engineers were that cool at Wash U. :)

Once again, faithful readers, we come to Pi day. And for once, I'm actually awake at 1:59am. That means it's 3/14 1:59 as I'm updating this.
Sorry I don't have much more to say, or even any fun pi day links. If my internet weren't being so pokey I'd upload the picture I found of someone who baked a pie with a pi in the middle with digits of pi on the crust. It looked incredible :)

For all you science nerds out there, check out http://www.giantmicrobes.com . Look! you could get a stuffed, fuzzy, malaria virus!
,
or the black death
And they're about a 1,000,000 times the normal size (so roughly 5-7 inches tall).
I am so amused. :)

Now, honestly, how many of you immediately thought of Romeo and Juliet with that title? I know at least a few of you had to.
As all of you know by now, I'm studying [applied] math. I kid you not, the following is part of my Modeling homework assignment;
The dynamics of love affairs: The love relationship between Romeo and Juliet Let R(t) = Romeo's love/hate for Juliet at time t. J(t) = Juliet's love/hate for Romeo at time t. R, J positive signify love, and R, J negative signifies hate.
Consider the case R' = aJ, J' = -bR with a > 0 and b > 0. Classify the fixed point. How is the relationship?
let R = aR + bJ a = the measure of cautiousness b = the measure of responsiveness
"Out of touch with their own feelings" R' = aJ, J' = bR
What will occur?
---- To make matters worse, the following is on the inside cover of the textbook;
To use or not to use: that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The stings and errors of outrageous computation, Or to apply technology against a sea of questions, And by its power resolve them? To model: perchance to visualize: ay, there's the key: For in that model what insights may come...
I don't even know what else to say about this random Shakespeare appearing in my Mathematical world except...wow.

Now this is cool;
http://genealogy.math.ndsu.nodak.edu/html/search.phtml
You can enter in any math professors names, and click back to see their genealogy (from PhD students...) The few professors I've tried all are direct descendants ofGauss, Lagrange or Poisson, etc. It's amazing!!! O_o

Tis a favourite project of mine, A new value of pi to assign. I would fix it at 3, For it's simpler, you see, Than 3 point 1 4 1 5 9
and I thank hanamizuki> for showing me these Physics limericks

I have to thank harrykrishna for showing me this video that you MUST watch . This is so incredibly geeky that I'M impressed.
And of course, I found the Klein Four Group 's website. I thought "Finite Simple Group" was brilliant until I saw the "Mathematics Paradise"
I'm in love.
oh! for joecarnahan - here's the link for Binary Fun

since I missed the opportunity at 1:59:26.53, I'm settling for wishing everyone a happy Pi day at 3:14.
I wish there was something nerdy I could do to celebrate the day dedicated to my favorite (irrational) number, but alas...
