The Devil's Music! Hey Atlanta locals, check it out: "Broadsword" is a delightful little Rock N' Roll fairytale, one that can stand proudly alongside the legend of Robert Johnson's infernal pact at the Crossroads as well as the occult fueled rumors that still haunt Brian Jones death. Imagine the movie 'Airheads' mashed-up with Nick Cave's classic 'Red Right Hand' and you'll have a rough idea of how this number's gonna play out. This play really needs to be seen by more than the theatre elite and the landed gentrified of Terminus. Take it from a guy who doesn't know his Mamet from his Molière, this show kicks ass and will trash your expectations the way the Stones could trash a hotel room! | | Friday, October 29th, 2010 | 12:49 pm [syrenofthesouth]

Step right up, step right up...
Somewhere between Tod Browning freak show chic and Sammy Beckett existentialist abusrdism, located on a psychogeographic map twixt Coney Island 1937 and buried balls deep in territory clearly marked - 'Here there be monsters' - you will find the amazing, the mysterious, the dadaistic brain orgy of THE SHOW!!! A theatric extravaganza whose equivalent can only be found in a raging three am three way with Siamese Twins while suckling cocaine lolipops. Life After High School Workshop
Chad's bio: http://tinyurl.com/m6qm3aIf you are the parent of a young person who is serious about the business, you really should take this workshop together. Atlanta: Life After High School Workshop
Former Casting Director and Actor Chad Darnell has been consulting with teens and parents for years and now he's teaching two day intensive workshops for teens AND parents.
Day One: A four hour conversation for parents and teens to discuss options after high school. College? Acting School? New York? Los Angeles? We will discuss picking appropriate monologues for scholarship auditions, continuing education, classes, headshots, agents, auditions, marketing, and making a living while pursuing your dream.
Day Two: A six hour intensive study for teens in order to better prepare for scholarship or agent and manager auditions (commonly called, "generals"). Actors are asked to come prepared with a one minute monologue, where we will critique as a group. We will also practice interviews and discuss audition etiquette.MORE: Life After High School Workshop | | Monday, July 6th, 2009 | 4:38 pm [fifilaroach] |
Riding With The King - 20th Anniversary Celebration Saturday July 25, 2009 Screenings at 4PM & 8PM PushPush Theater 121 New Street Decatur, GA 30030 404-377-6332 www.pushpushtheater.com Cost: $5 adults, $2 kids between 3-11, Free for under 3y/o In August 1988, a troupe of intrepid Elvis fans left Atlanta and traveled across Dixie to Memphis TN. Their goal was to document on film the international phenomenon of the pilgrimage, a longstanding tradition among various cultures wherein the individual is expected to visit a special place at least once in their life. In this case the “special place” is Graceland, home of the late King of Rock n’ Roll, Elvis Presley. Leaving Inman Park’s lamented Austin Avenue Buffet armed with cameras and led by Atlanta country singer Slim Chance driving a massive Cadillac convertible, the group first explored Elvis’ birthplace and the hardware store where he got his first guitar in Tupelo. In Memphis the crew visited Elvis’ karate’ instructor Kang Rhee, got fashion tips fit for a King in Lansky’s Clothing Store, attended an Elvis impersonator’s contest, discussed the furniture in Graceland with Elvis’ personal interior decorator, and many other unique adventures. The film won many awards and was featured at the New York Independent Film Festival and the American Film Institute’s Video Fest. But the most fascinating part of the documentary is the interviews with the pilgrims, many who traveled from as far as Germany, New Zealand, and Japan to spend a moment with the King. The unconditional love and reverence of his fans is a powerful statement about the global influence of Presley’s work, and the heartfelt emotion his fans express over his passing 11 years after the fact is profoundly touching Sharing conversations with the people you never see in other Elvis documentaries, rare footage from Atlanta’s Austin Avenue Buffet, featuring a soundtrack loaded with Elvis-centric contributions by Mojo Nixon, The Swimming Pool Q’s, Syd Straw and others, and full of fun and sincere appreciation for the real people who made Elvis the biggest star in the world, “Riding With The King” is a must-see documentary for fans and film scholars alike. Join RWTK Director Lisa Roach Maddox and Slim Chance for a Q&A after each of these rare 20th anniversary screenings. Kids are welcome, regular and adult beverages and snacks will be available for purchase. The event is a fundraiser for PushPush Theater.
