We live our lives day to day, most of us trapped in some never-ending yet meaningless persuit for a decent life; however that life is defined for the individual and downgraded to take into account for the dreams and goals that we have but will most likely never reach. The cultural spread, like the perfect cream-cheese over the perfect bagel, all our lives we have been made to believe that we can be who-ever and what-ever we want to be, as long as we work hard and put our minds to it. Dreams then filtering into our imagination of a perfect life, again however that life is defined for the individual.
We are slaves of our elderly cultural ideologies, from back when our ancestors came from different struggles to settle in a new world, with new hopes and a chance to start over. These ideas created by looking at the fortunes of a few, sometimes predestined from social status and other times out of luck. The ideology to work for the man and soon enough you can be the man to work for. And yet, more often than not, none of us ever attain that dream. Is it survival of the fittest, Darwin? Or is it survival for the birthright? And yes, I understand that Darwin wasn't talking about socio-economic power...
...Although, perhaps the problem doesn't have anything to do with having dreams. Perhaps the problem evolves when a culture created around the "individual" has dreams. A selfish lot of never-achievers all striving to perform the same exact promotion. A promotion for the self, not in a granola-eating-health-nut sort of way, but in a materialistic and self-sponsered way, acts of concerns over how others will view them. And these values are rooted deep in the fabric of our culture.
wish i could take credit for this genius. but it was shane christian sargent.

there may or may not have been a request for a journal entry from a certain boyfriend. so i may or may not be writing one.
i love white ninja. i love ninja pants. i love thnoopoola. i love being called poopoola. but only by certain parties. i love saying random aussie words. i love when he says "ta." i love cooking. an unhealthy amount. i love his approval. an unhealthy amount. but i still love it. i love my major. i love that his was the same. i love that we kick peoples ASSES at 90's trivial pursuit. i love that he brings my flowers. i love that i do his dishes. i love his bald head. i love that he loves me not brushing my hair. i love when he remembers his dreams. i do NOT love when they are about my mother. i love when i dream about him. i love when i wake up and its not really a dream. i love that he makes fun of me for watching viva la bam. i love that he'll still watch it with me anyway. i love that we go out. i love that we stay in. i love that we finish eachothers sentences. i love that we finish eachothers thoughts. i love that he still claims those cookies were good. i love that he doesnt make me clean the bathrooms at work. or home. i love that he could be largeman and i could be sam and we could be in new jersey and not a thing would change. i love that being american bothers him. i love that i only have to be bothered 50%. i love that we travel. even if its to dunkin donuts. i love that when i cry, even if its because a book, i get held. i love that when i smile, even if its because the muppet face was made, i get held. i love that he's protective, but not nuts. i love that hes crazy. i love his dance. i love my irish jig. i love that i may or may not be welling up. not because i miss him. not because i love him. but because i know its all true. nothings stretched. i love that we just are. one. but i do love him. insanely. crazily. incredibly.
and that, my friend, is an entry.

| update. rawk. |
[13 Jan 2005|11:14am] |
im doing the "first sentence of every first entry of the month" thang. its easier than writing an actual entry:) the sentences are apparently something like my "theme" of last year or something. so lets get started!
january: 001. name: Jessica a good start, obviously just a quiz ok, sorry, heres a non-quiz one, and its about darren! so some random person added me to their "friends" thing, so i feel i have to write in this puppy again so as not to disappoint.
february: i dreamt i was sick last night, woke up sick. messed up, man.
march: the piano tuner's here fixing the piano, so im trying to stay out of his way, let him do his thing, ya know...
april: seth just im'ed me. crap.
may: so. back in idaho. cried several times already. this just isnt right. this school does nothing good for me.
june: so i dreamt i was on the phone with patrice, just talking, then i get call waiting from hilay but dont answer it.
july: best. website. ever.
august: Things you have to believe to be a Republican today:
september: bitches deleted my entry.
october: oops-i didnt write a SINGLE ENTRY
november: holy crap, who knew i still had a journal!
december: song of the day: blower's daughter by damien rice

song of the day: blower's daughter by damien rice the lyrics dont do the entire song justice, you really should listen to it
And so it is Just like you said it would be Life goes easy on me Most of the time And so it is The shorter story No love, no glory No hero in her sky
I can't take my eyes off you I can't take my eyes off you I can't take my eyes off you I can't take my eyes off you I can't take my eyes off you I can't take my eyes...
And so it is Just like you said it should be We'll both forget the breeze Most of the time And so it is The colder water The blower's daughter The pupil in denial
I can't take my eyes off you I can't take my eyes off you I can't take my eyes off you I can't take my eyes off you I can't take my eyes off you I can't take my eyes...
Did I say that I loathe you? Did I say that I want to Leave it all behind?
I can't take my mind off you I can't take my mind off you I can't take my mind off you I can't take my mind off you I can't take my mind off you I can't take my mind... My mind...my mind... 'Til I find somebody new

song of the day: ava adore by smashing pumpkins
It's you that I adore You'll always be my whore You'll be the mother to my child And a child to my heart We must never be apart We must never be apart
Lovely girl you're the beauty in my world Without you there aren't reasons left to find
And I'll pull your crooked teeth You'll be perfect just like me You'll be a lover in my bed And a gun to my head We must never be apart We must never be apart
In you I see dirty In you I count stars In you I feel so pretty In you I taste god In you I feel so hungry In you I crash cars We must never be apart
Drinking mercury To the mystery of all that you should ever seek to find Lovely girl you're the murder in my world Dressing coffins for the souls I've left behind In time We must never be apart
And you'll always be my whore Cause you're the one that i adore And I'll pull your crooked teeth You'll be perfect just like me In you I feel so dirty in you I crash cars In you I feel so pretty in you I taste god We must never be apart

holy crap, who knew i still had a journal! its been aproximatly two months, so i guess its time to start up again. i guess. really theres just too much and yet not enough to write about. i have a boyfriend. shane. not jordan. i esensially (cant spell) broke up with jordan for shane. still living with meggy and ames. still love them to death. who knew? ;) im failing one of my classes. endangered forests. who cares. so that means ill get 12 credits instead of 16. oh well. i pick classes in a week. the ones i would like to take are as follows ethnography of music (could anything be cooler?) art history 1400-present (instead of an archaeology course, and i already took the first half) nutritional science (its got a longer title, but really, it will determine if i change my major to health science) finite math (booooo, i hate math, but have to take it-this course is described as a "liberal arts" math course. i hope that means easy because liberal arts majors tend to SUCK at math. tend to.) what else what else... i just went to cali for about a week with shane. we really really want to move out there next fall. ill take the year off. work. gain residency. go to a u of c for crazy cheap. and not be dependent on the padres. i hate that. we also went to mexico while we were there. its a dirty place. but i enjoyed it. id like to live there at some point. not tijana. further south. maybe just visit. dunno. next week is thanksgiving! hooray! i love eating too much! oh wait. thats all the time. jessica stetson. i miss you. you wont read this. but that doesnt mean i dont miss you. what is going on in your life? i have no idea. and it makes me sad. im sorry i dont visit. can we have some strawberry ice cream and mulan over thanksgiving, maybe even christmas? just a thought... carolyn marie. i love you. youre an amazing writer. ive been meaning to tell you. HILARY BROOKE COMES HOME IN LESS THAN A MONTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i dont want her to go back:( winter is ours, noone elses. we're supposed to have fun while everyones in school:( missouri, i fart in your general direction! sarah. eat. my. shorts. yeah, you heard me...slut. i guess thats good for now. expect song of the day within 5 minutes.

song of the day: astral weeks by van morrison
If I ventured in the slipstream Between the viaducts of your dream Where immobile steel rims crack And the ditch in the back roads stop Could you find me? Would you kiss-a my eyes? To lay me down In silence easy To be born again To be born again From the far side of the ocean If I put the wheels in motion And I stand with my arms behind me And I'm pushin' on the door Could you find me? Would you kiss-a my eyes? To lay me down In silence easy To be born again To be born again There you go Standin' with the look of avarice Talkin' to Huddie Ledbetter Showin' pictures on the wall Whisperin' in the hall And pointin' a finger at me There you go, there you go Standin' in the sun darlin' With your arms behind you And your eyes before There you go Takin' good care of your boy Seein' that he's got clean clothes Puttin' on his little red shoes I see you know he's got clean clothes A-puttin' on his little red shoes A-pointin' a finger at me And here I am Standing in your sad arrest Trying to do my very best Lookin' straight at you Comin' through, darlin' Yeah, yeah, yeah If I ventured in the slipstream Between the viaducts of your dreams Where immobile steel rims crack And the ditch in the back roads stop Could you find me Would you kiss-a my eyes Lay me down In silence easy To be born again To be born again To be born again In another world In another world In another time Got a home on high Ain't nothing but a stranger in this world I'm nothing but a stranger in this world I got a home on high In another land So far away So far away Way up in the heaven Way up in the heaven Way up in the heaven Way up in the heaven In another time In another place In another time In another place Way up in the heaven Way up in the heaven We are goin' up to heaven We are goin' to heaven In another time In another place In another time In another place In another face

song of the day: wicked game(s) by chris isaak
The world was on fire no-one could save me but you Strange what desire will make foolish people do I never dreamed that I'd meet somebody like you I never dreamed that I'd lose somebody like you
No, I don't wanna fall in love (This world is only gonna break your heart) No, I don't wanna fall in love (This world is only gonna break your heart) With you With you (This world is only gonna break your heart)
What a wicked game to play to make me feel this way What a wicked thing to do to let me dream of you What a wicked thing to say you never felt this way What a wicked thing to do to make me dream of you
And I wanna fall in love (This world is only gonna break your heart) No, I wanna fall in love (This world is only gonna break your heart) With you
The world was on fire no-one could save me but you Strange what desire will make foolish people do I never dreamed that I'd love somebody like you I never dreamed that I'd lose somebody like you
No, I don't wanna fall in love (This world is only gonna break your heart) No, I don't wanna fall in love (This world is only gonna break your heart) With you (this world is only gonna break your heart) With you (This world is only gonna break your heart) No, I… (This world is only gonna break your heart) (This world is only gonna break your heart)

song of the day: at last by etta james
At last My love has come along My lonely days are over And life is like a song
Ohh yeah yeah At last
The skies above are blue My heart was wrapped up in clovers The night I looked at you
I found a dream, that I could speak to A dream that I can call my own I found a thrill to press my cheek to A thrill that I have never known
Ohh yeah yeah… You smile, you smile
Oh and then the spell was cast And here we are in heaven for you are mine....
At Last

song of the day: sexbomb by tom jones
Spy on me baby use satellite Infrared to see me move through the night Aim gonna fire shoot me right I'm gonna like the way you fight
Now you found the secret code I use to wash away my lonely blues So I can't deny or lie cause you're the only one to make me fly.
Sexbomb Sexbomb you're a Sexbomb You can give it to me, when I need to come along Sexbomb sexbomb you're my sexbomb And baby you can turn me on.
No don't get me wrong ain't gonna do you no harm (no) This bomb's for lovin' and you can shoot it far I'm your main target come and help me ignite Love struck holding you tight.
Make me explode although you know the route to go to sex me slow And yes, I must react to claims of those who say that you are not all that.
You can give me more and more counting up the score You can turn me upside down and inside out You can make me feel the real deal And I can give it to you any time because you're mine
oh my gosh, so awesome.

song of the day: run by snow patrol
I'll sing it one last time for you Then we really have to go You've been the only thing that's right In all I've done.
And I can barely look at you But every single time I do I know we'll make it anywhere Away from here
Light up, Light up As if you have a choice Even if you cannot hear my voice I'll be right beside you dear
Louder, louder And we'll run for our lives I can hardly speak I understand Why you can't raise your voice to say
To think I might not see those eyes It makes it so hard not to cry And as we say our long goodbyes I nearly do.
Light up, light up As if you have a choice Even if you cannot hear my voice I'll be right beside you dear
Louder, louder And we'll run for our lives I can hardly speak I understand Why you can't raise your voice to say
Slower, slower We don't have time for that All I want is to find an easier way To get out of our little heads
Have heart my dear We're bound to be afraid Even if it's just for a few days Making up for all this mess.
Light up, light up As if you have a choice Even if you cannot hear my voice I'll be right beside you dear.
makes me cry. is my hair red? i think it might be...

gah, so tired. so much has happened, i dont know where to start. so, well, i guess jordan would be the obvious place to start. im currently involved with a boy named jordan. hes 23. hes from san fran. and he makes me so so so happy. so cliche, i know. but true. of course this all happens right when im leaving. were considering transferring to provo together next fall, but who knows. im too experienced in the art of long distance relationships to hold out too much hope. this school is teaming with single girls, ill be quickly forgotten. hes just treated me so much nicer than any guy ever has. hes like a mix of the good parts of seth and elias, i feel like he may have been created just for me, haha. so, yeah, im falling for him rather hard. it makes me realize how much i really, deep down inside DIDNT like aedam, haha. but yeah, he just makes me smile :)mostly, i guess thats it. sorry my updates are so few and far between and when i DO update, theyre freakishly boring. here, ill find a quiz...

holy shite, what a crime against humanity not to have written in so long--when was the last time i even wrote a real entry (not a fakey one) july 30 my friends, thats right. unfortunatly not much has happened since then, hence, i havent written. i will sincerely miss my roomates when i leave. the two that are on my track are so awesome. there will always be that element of what if...oh wellllll. i love meggy and ames way way too much to be too preoccupied by it. like seriously, i love them so so so much, like amy says, it hurts my pinky toe. i talked to seth yesterday. he thinks hes awesome, its cute, i REALLY hope he gets a reality check when he goes to school...i heart elias so much, he is captain awesome himself.im so excited to see him. the girls are going to montreal w/o me:( :( if they call me, ill cry. i might be able to see zelda in montana. ill freak out. mm, i think thats all for an update now...week and two days. geez. i cant wait. im so excited.
i aint lookin' for confusion, but it tends to follow me

Things you have to believe to be a Republican today:
Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.
Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is Communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.
The United States should get out of the United Nations, and our highest national priority is enforcing U.N. resolutions against Iraq.
A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but multi-national corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind without regulation.
Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary Clinton.
The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.
If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.
A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our long-time allies, then demand their cooperation and money.
Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy. Providing health care to all Americans is socialism.
HMO's and insurance companies have the best interests of the public at heart.
Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but creationism should be taught in schools.
A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable offense.
A president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is solid defense policy.
Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet.
The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but George Bush's driving record is none of our business.
Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an illness and you need our prayers for your recovery.
You support states' rights, which means Attorney General John Ashcroft can tell states what local voter initiatives they have the right to adopt.
What Bill Clinton did in the 1960's is of vital national interest, but what Bush did in the '80s is irrelevant.
Friends don't let friends vote Republican.
