Noteworthy events
Missouri House ethics investigation (2025-2026)
On September 4, 2025, Dean, while engaged in a sit-in on the floor of the Missouri House of Representatives along with fellow Democrats, sent a text message to Missouri House of Representatives member Cecelie Williams that was deemed inappropriate and sexual in nature. Dean was removed from his committee assignments by House Minority Leader Ashley Aune following the incident, and the Missouri House of Representatives House Ethics Committee initiated an investigation into Dean. [2]
In January 2026, the Missouri House of Representatives voted to sanction Dean. He was removed from all committee assignments through 2026, and was prohibited from having any contact with Cecelie Williams. He must also stay at least fifty feet away from Williams at all times, and was required to complete workforce sexual harassment training. His seating on the house floor and his garage parking space at the Missouri State Capitol were also reassigned.[3]
Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislatorâs voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislatorâs political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy groupâs scorecard may assess a legislatorâs voting record on one issue while a state newspaperâs scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpediaâs goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
Click here for an overview of legislative scorecards in all 50 states. To contribute to the list of scorecards, email suggestions to editor@ballotpedia.org.
Below you can find the scorecards found for the Missouri General Assembly in 2025.
- Club for Growth Foundation â Legislators are scored on their votes on bills related to economic issues.
- Freedom Principle Missouri â Legislators are scored on their votes on bills supported or opposed by the organization.
- The Freedom Index â Legislators are scored on their adherence to the limited government principles of the U.S. Constitution.
