So.. I wrote about a half page of random musings when I realized things were getting complicated and I was beginning to confuse myself with circular logic and misinterpretations of my own ideas.. Bleh.. Talking about memory and retrieval.. Wondering if, at some basic level, every object, even inanimate, non-intelligent unit, has the capability to store data, on its own..Do objects have memories? Even if they cannot recall them or we cannot record or read them?Afterall, what is memory, but a small part of us, modified or altered by some force.. An event, a person, an idea, an emotion..In the end, it's just firing of more neurons, little electric charges bursting through channels of atoms and modifying some compounds.. in a definite order, all small changes at the atomic level fitting together like the pieces of an infinitely complex jigsaw puzzle, to create abstract ideas such as memories.. The way we speak about how our skin remembers the touch of someone or something.. Or the phantom limb phenomenon..Maybe the entire body works as a huge repository of data..After all, the DNA again, is a long data string, right? So, if it works for living things, why not inanimate objects? At the fundamental level, we are all the same.. atoms held together by enrgy and forces.. So, isn't it plausible that everything an object encounters, leaves an atomic footprint behind, on the object in question? Maybe too small to notice.. A few molecules shifted.. Some reversed spin.. Some ionization.. Wouldn't that be a reminder of that force? In the end, wouldn't that be a memory as well?
As Niles said in last night's rerun of Frasier, while being carted off to the Operating Room, "Do hospitals have memories? Do they see me and think "Hey! I remember you.. You were the boy who broke his ankle in 1965"
Any thoughts?

Welcome back! I've continued to use this platform and continue to write my essay style posts. The numbers have dwindled; I guess I stay because I've been writing here for 17 years and I don't take…
I think the reason LJ is becoming a ghost town of sorts is because we have these quick-and-dirty alternatives like Facebook. I personally can't stand Twitter because it's too busy, and I am terrible…
Time change. I feel much like you do. When I started using LJ, Facebook was hardly on the radar, and things like Instagram and Twitter were far in the future. I have tried using LJ more. but the fact…
