I am usually not a fan of this genre of television. I despise shows like the OC, One Tree Hill, Everwood, Summerland, Laguna Beach, etc, but it appears that I am now forced to become a fan of The Bedford Diaries.
Tonight, I turned on the tv, saw Bedford Diaries at the bottom of the screen by the WB logo, figured I must have had it on the WB from the last time Charmed was on, and reached for the remote to change the channel. Then I saw this girl come on the screen and it looked like someone I should be familiar with. I was like "no way, that can't be her." I immediately ran to my computer and checked the internet movie database and, sure enough, it was her.
Tiffany Dupont (Sarah Gregory) has come quite a long way since her days at the University of Georgia. We were on the Oglethorpe House Community Council together at UGA back in 2001. She was president and I was vice-president. We'd have meetings in the basement of the dorm and give RAs money for programs and put on various activities for the residents, etc. We lost touch after that. I was slack and left UGA for several years, and I am now back here trying to finish my degree. Since I've known her she's gone on to be Miss University of Georgia, a finalist for Miss Georgia, and have quite a successful career in television and theatre. With this show, she should finally be catapulted into the mainstream and I look forward to her first appearance in the tabloids. lol! That's assuming we don't see another stupid cancellation, ala Firefly or Dark Angel. I hope she blows up but has staying power and enjoys a long, successful career for many years to come. She totally deserves it.

You might be interested in a review I just posted this morning, over at my blog Mere Words, about WB's censorship of The Beford Diaries, the new drama series co-created by Tom Fontana and Julie Martin and executive-produced by Barry Levinson. Your comments are welcome. Enjoy.

The WB has trimmed its midseason order of Bedford Diaries from its original 13 ep order, back to 8 episodes, including the pilot, says Variety. Bedford Diaries is set in a fictional NYC college, with a high concentration in the class taught by Matthew Modine's character on elements of sex education. Bedford Diaries is from Levinson-Fontana Co., HBO Indep Prods and Warner Bros. TV.
