This RPG is based on Final Fantasy 10, and is going to begin 300 years after the final battle with Sin. The characters played by the RPGers will consist of new characters and, chiefly, characters from the game itself. Why play characters when it is obviously past their time? All righty, it’s synopsis time. Whee.
It has been three hundred years since the final defeat of Sin. Much time has passes since the years during which people feared daily, hoping only for the brief yet beautiful interludes brought with the Calm. The world has changed in these three hundred years, though it is not anywhere near to being what the world before Sin had been.
After defeating Sin, Lady Yuna and her guardians helped to guide Spira into a time of new revelations, of renewal, and of hope. Up until her death, she worked faithfully--as did her guardians--for the good of the people, staying true to her path. Yuna and each of those who had been her guardians--Tidus, Auron, Wakka, Lulu, Kimahri, and Rikku--have all become well-known names and historical, often legendary, figures in the eyes of the people.
Machinery is now know by said term as opposed to machina, and has become more widespread. In certain cases--such as with Luca City and the newly built and rapidly growing Zanarkand--machinery is readily apparent throughout the city, and is sued to run much of it. At other locations, however, such as Besaid, machinery is scare. People live as they choose to, having nothing to fear from machines, but knowing that they can live without them. In this, a lesson had been learned from past times.
Magic still runs prominently throughout the land. Mages practice their craft fervently. Small children take interest in magic and are sent to learn of it and how to use it. However, there have been no Summoners since the departure of Lady Yuna--there has been no need of any. Sending had been the only task that still remained for the Summoners, and this task has now been given to those who called themselves Dispersers.
The land of Spira is ruled by a joint committee known as the Djarga. Representatives from various lands of Spira are elected by their people to join together in this committee. Together, the peoples create the laws of Spira, the ways in which it runs. Even the often-despised Guado are given respect while on the committee, though they may meet it nowhere else.
As for religion… That, certainly, has changed. The deep belief in Yevon was understandably scalded with the revelations after Sin’s defeat. Since that time, there has been very little of an established religion. For some, this seems entirely fortunate. Many people, however, have begun to feel themselves at a loss. They have a ruling body, yes, but not a reason for life. Many have begun to cry out for answers. Many wish to know truths that they cannot find in daily life.
A new group has begun to rise in the eyes of the people of Spira. The members of this group are the Wanyos. The group has sent members throughout Spira to spread their ideas. These ideas, at current, amount to little, and are mostly composed of empty promises. The purpose of the members spread is to net new members who look for answers--they have thus far accomplished this and are continuing to attract more members. Their leader, a being who has up to this point remain chiefly unknown, has plans beneath the surface of what those on the outside see.
The group looks promising enough to the people are invited to it. This group has the answers that so many have been looking for; this group must hold the secrets of life. There are members who claim to have seen a creator. Stories are told of countless miracles. Those who here the stories are almost inevitably caught into the group. After all, in a world where faith is wanted, any group that comes along offering it will be adored. Their teachings are spoken of, and work on temples began several years ago. The beliefs include faith in a creator who listens, linking to those who have died… Many of the same beliefs that were help in the time of Yevon. Very few people have tied this idea together as of yet.
The leader of the Wanyos wishes, of course, for domination of Spira. His intentions are currently hidden from mostly all; being hidden, he has time to collect his power. He understands the minds of the general population and works the minds. The leader himself, in fact, is damned near an expert at manipulation and magic, as well.
On a seemingly unrelated note, disturbances have begun to appear with the Farplane and the spirits of the dead. Lately, sightings have been reported of people who were supposed to have been dead; some for quite some time now. These reports have been largely discredited, though they continue to appear. Some claim that it is the work of this wonderful religion. Others claim that it is devilry. Still others think that perhaps there is something darker working, something that might have produced this effect.
To digress for a moment on the subject of the Farplane… It is not quite as it was before. There are now numerous ways of entering and exiting, though all are in basically the same area. The Farplanes are no longer monitored by the Guado, who have been forced out of Guadosalam and into a new settlement in order that the Farplanes might be overlooked by the Djarga. Now, back to what was being said.
Along with these reports of appearances have been reports of a strange, robed figure seen around the Farplane. Several have claimed to have seen him bring beings back from the Farplane and into life. Much as these statements are scoffed at, they are true. It has happened, and it has caused a phenomenon that has not been seen before. The actions of this being have caused an instability in the Farplane, and the dead have begun to escape--or, rather, have been forced--into the world of the living.
Stories told about this are, as has been said, invariably discredited. Though they are truth, few believe them, and none know who is behind it. None realize that the Wanyos--the leaders and several of the chiefs, at least--believe that the dead can be of some help, and are using this opportunity for a chance to seize more. They believe that this is the path to finding a new power. In addition to causing a break in the Farplane for hopes of finding a way to use the dead and deriving new power from the Farplane, they are behind the recent outbreaks of attacks from fiends. For many years, there were almost no attacks--now the attacks have come back with a roar.
Some have begun to understand that this can be no good. They see the falsity of this new religion, and some see the connections to recent occurrences. Those who live in Spira and see this have begun to look for others of their views, hoping to stop this before it breaks out of control.
Even as the citizens of Spira band together, another force has emerged--this one from the Farplane. Only very recently, the figures from the stories of Sin’s defeat have emerged from the dead and come into the world of living. They have found themselves forced once more into the world of the living, and understand that they now need to help the people once more.
That does it for the synopsis… At least, for right now it’s good. Now comes the joining, whee! :D As was said earlier, characters from the game and new characters are all very much welcome.
If you’d like to join with a new character, please fill out this form and put it in your profile…

Please create a character journal for your RPG character. It’s best to have one, obviously, because it is used in the interaction between the characters. If you absolutely cannot find away to create such a journal, talk to me--if you can’t find a code on your own, I can help you look for one. Interaction can also take place over messenger--this is entirely up to the RPGers, however. Please post the transcripts of any messenger Rping at the community journal.
That’s really all for right now… Please join, play, and enjoy. Whee.
