How DARE he act so dismissive of my questions, as if Young Master's disappearance is of no concern to him. That selfish, arrogant child.

...

No, that's not entirely fair as I was behaving childishly as well. I shouldn't have twisted my guilt into such bitterness towards him. It's been over two years since I last saw Edward Elric and although he has returned, he doesn't seem at all the same person. The boy I remember was quick, verbally and physically. He was a worthy opponent, I have to admit (no way in hell I would lose to just anyone!) The man I encountered bearing his name was much quieter and more reserved. I would say it was an improvement in personality, but it didn't feel as though he gained maturity. Quite the contrary, it was as if he has lost something invaluable instead. His spirit.

Regardless, I've accepted the fact that despite our previous engagements and the bonds I have with his remaining family and close friends, my loyalties to the Prince come first. Anyone who hinders my search is expendable, and Edward is being far less helpful then I have hoped. If he would just tell me the things I need to know then I wouldn't have been forced into such extremes. Granted, I could have handled things with more grace, but with THAT attitude he was practically BEGGING for that knife to the throat. *sigh*

He claims not to know anything about Master Ling, but I've been watching him. I've watched him for some time before I approached him and with Ling's disappearance, a stranger as appeared.

A name slipped.

"Alphonse"

The same name as his brother. I believe there is more to this than just mere coincidence. There's something unnatural about this person. Unlike the homunculi who contain so many human souls, this boy's aura is unreadable. It's almost as if he doesn't exist at all. Impossible, I know. My ranting is ridiculous, but I can't shake this sense that something is not right.

I'm meeting with Edward soon. He's promised to tell me everything about the extended time he's been missing. In exchange, I've agreed to leave this other "Alphonse" alone.

For now.

I know it's been a while since I last updated. No idea who would read this anyway, but on the off chance that someone with any clue on the Young Master's whereabouts comes across this journal, please! Tell me where I might find him! It's been two years already...I can't very well show my face in Xing anymore. I have shamed my family and my country, but worse, I've lost the person most precious to me. What purpose do I have now? The Yao Clan has lost our only heir and all our sacrifices up until this point have been in vain...because of me. I failed to protect Him. I failed to serve Him as a worthy bodyguard. It shouldn't have been He who disappeared, and I'm willing to give up much more than just my left arm to bring Him back home.

...Ling

I called Winry the other day. She and her grandmother have been very kind to be these past few years. I'm overdue for a maintenance check on my automail. She did such a wonderful job and provided me with a sleek, light-weight model so I can still maneuver smoothly in combat...not that I do much fighting nowadays. I make sure to keep in touch with her and Alphonse in hopes that maybe they've heard from Ed. I can't help but feel that Ling's disappearance is somehow linked to Ed's mysterious absence. They were both pursuing the stone after all...

I could scarcely believe what I was hearing! Ed's back! I heard about the earthquakes in Liore and Central, but news is rather slow in the north. I've been in Drachma for a while, hoping to turn up something surrounding a rumor about a tribe of people worshiping a 'fountain' that is suppose to grant one eternal life. I meant to check in sooner to see if Winry and Al were okay, since last I heard, Al was journeying out Liore's way.

She didn't mention anything about Ling...but Ed MUST now something. Please...please tell me he knows something...

I'm taking the next train heading south. Whatever custom this country has for luck...grant me that. I need it.

OH ANCESTORS!!! I lost the Prince AGAIN! I have surely shamed my people for this incompetence of mine. Still, the Prince is as cunning as he is careless. Perhaps I will track down that insufferable alchemist brat. Prince Ling seems to have a strange fascination with him, and is convinced the boy will lead us to the Philosopher's stone. The sooner we complete our mission here, the sooner we can return home. I am far from impressed by the mannerisms of Amsterians and this country's food upsets my stomach TERRIBLY. I don't understand how the Prince can eat so much of it like he does. Hmmm, maybe checking the local restaurants first is the best way to go about my search. After all, no need to confront that elder Elric if there is no need. *grumbles* And how DARE he speak so casually to the future Emperor of Xing like that! As if his total disrespect for our leader isn't insult enough, he mocked me in combat! Used dishonorable trickery to defeat me! I assure you, if that bean child had enough grace to confront me in a traditional form, I would have him eating dirt and licking Prince Ling's sandals BEGGING for the forgiveness of our people. ARGH! I lost my train of thought...Oh yes! I MUST find the Prince before he tarnishes his image further by associating himself with such an individual or WORSE! I fear he may have forgotten that he is traveling abroad withOUT a visa. This may not end well...
