Step out the front door like a ghost Into the fog where no one notices The contrast of white on white. And in between the moon and you The angels get a better view Of the crumbling difference between wrong and right. I walk in the air between the rain Through myself and back again Where? I don't know
Both Sides the Tweed What's the spring breathing jasmine and rose What's the summer with all its gay train What's the splendour of autumn to those Who've bartered their freedom for gain.
No sweetness the senses can cheer Which corruption and bribery bind No brightness the sun can e'er clear For honour's the sum of the mind.
Let virtue distinguish the brave Place riches in lowest degree Think them poorest who can be a slave Them richest who dare to be free.
"And here I am poised above with my arms spread flying and there are halos of light spinning out of us and yes this is me becoming holy human and my own self." ~Francesca Lia Block, Echo
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment." Matthew 22:37-38

I'm Brekke. This is the journal of me. All the mess, the complicated struggles, the back-and-forth mind changes, the intricate and often unimportant details that make up a person. I believe in humanity, in a triune God, in mercy and justice and the radical power of love. I find faith in the wilderness, beside the ocean and in the songs of birds. I believe God's fingerprints reside in all His (or Her) creatures. I ravage books by the buschel, and hope to publish my own someday. I am interested in comparative religious study, ecumenics, peace and conflict studies and trying to bridge the divide between people. I have a special love for Classic rock, traditional Celtic ballads and Soul. I am a living history reenactor and being involved in this as a hobby for the majority of my life has shaped me in unexplainable ways. I am a city girl that is in a long-term adulterous affair with country life. I am imperfect and this, dear readers, is the attempt at laying those imperfections out on the table, so I can learn from them, grow from them and be reborn. This journal is marginally friends only, but leave a comment and I'll add you. If you're just stopping by, leave me a comment! I'd love to say hello to all my lovely visitors. :)
