brontefanatic's Journal

There's nothing much to say. My life is pretty boring - single, full-time employed cat person (just ask my cats). Oh, and I also have a full-time job that actually pays me money. Yes - I'm that stereotype - the aging cat lady.

I got on Live Journal because of my love for "Legend of the Seeker", a wonderful show that most people have never heard of. I joined a comm connected with that show, and have made some amazing friends here. I have written some fanfiction for "Legend of the Seeker" and "Game of Thrones", but have never felt the inspiration to write for any other fandoms.

I'm new to writing fanfiction. Before LJ, I think the last time I wrote any stories was in elementary school, so it's been an interesting ride, which I would never have started without the encouragement of my lj friends. I've been in a dry spell for about a year now, but I hope the inspiration to write will come back someday.

I love to read, and when it comes to books, the only fantasy novels I really like are post-apocalyptic works set on earth - how would we, individually and a society, respond if the world as we know it would be destroyed through our own arrogance and mistakes. That's why I love books like "On the Beach", "Alas, Babylon", "The Hunger Games" trilogy, "The Age of Miracles", and "The Stand".

Some exceptions to my dislike of magical fantasy are LotR, ASOIAF by GGR Martin. On the whole, I just don't care for it, though. I prefer to read about humans who possess no special magical powers who must learn to cope under extraordinary circumstances.
