Bruce And Emma Willis In W Magazine July 2009 [Oct. 21st, 2009|02:08 pm]

"Honeymoon Hotel"

For years Bruce Willis vowed he’d never marry again. Then the movie star met sizzling Emma Heming, and she changed his mind—and his life.

July 2009

A word to the wise: If you’ve recently suffered a tough breakup, or are generally sullen or cynical regarding matters of the heart, avoid spending time in the company of newlyweds Bruce and Emma Willis. “We’re sickening,” Bruce says, shaking his head in mock disgust. “We make out in public. I know there’s some rule that you’re not supposed to be doing—what is it? Public displays of affection?”

“PDA,” says 32-year-old Emma, née Heming, helpfully supplying her 54-year-old husband with the slang term he’s searching for.

“Right, PDAs,” Bruce says, oblivious to the fact that by making the acronym plural he sounds more like he’s talking about Palm Pilots.

In truth, the Willises, who wed at Bruce’s home in Turks and Caicos in March and made it legal with a follow-up civil ceremony in Los Angeles, are hardly exhibitionists. They share a quiet, restrained disposition, though they do indulge in discreet smooches in the company of others. And their declarations of adoration are made with such offhand sincerity that, save for the most bitter among us, it’s impossible not to feel joyful in their presence.

Or perplexed. Is this not the same Bruce Willis who spent the years since his 2000 divorce from Demi Moore dating a string of models and decrying the institution of monogamy? “He once told me, ‘If I ever tell you I’m gonna get married again, punch me in the face,’” recalls Louise Weber, an executive at Willis’s production company who started working as his assistant 15 years ago.

“I went from ‘F--- love’ to ‘Love is truly the answer,’” Willis says, acknowledging his transformation. “I spent the last 10 years single and, for the most part, unhappy. In a dark place. I never thought that being with someone else was the answer. I would say, ‘I’m alone, but I’m not lonely.’ But I was just kidding myself. Then I started hanging around Emma, and on a day-to-day basis my life became much happier.”

The couple met at the Los Angeles gym of their trainer, Gunnar Peterson, in 2005. Her lithe frame and understated beauty caught Bruce’s eye, but at the time, she was engaged to L.A. nightlife entrepreneur Brent Bolthouse, so the two became merely friendly acquaintances. Two years later, Emma’s relationship had ended, and in fall 2007 she was preparing to leave L.A. “We went on one date, on the Friday before Emma was getting ready to move back to New York, and then we fell mad crazy in love,” says Bruce. “When you think about where are you going to find that big love of your life, you seldom think it’s someone you already know. You think it’s someone you’re yet to meet.” Adds Emma, “I had never really dated. I’ve always been a relationship kind of person. But in that phase of my life I was like, You know what, maybe I’ll just date, see what it’s like. And I lasted one date.” Ever since, the two have been practically inseparable, often traveling together to her modeling shoots and his film sets, bouncing back and forth between L.A., where Bruce’s three daughters live, and New York, which they both prefer.

Sin City Spceial Edition comes out on December 13th, 2005. It's gonna be insane. SO many special features, it's ridiculous. I knew they'd release one jam packed with goodies, so I hate to admit I never bought the first one, I just downloaded the movie. But without a doubt I will be dropping thirty bucks on the new extended one. Includes: Extended version of the film, 17 minutes of uncut Tarantino film, interviews and commentaries, bloopers, deleted scenes, an interactive game, a comic book, and a crapload more. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

Action man BRUCE WILLIS has finally sold his New York City apartment after a year on the market - by dropping $4 million (GBP2.2 million) from the asking price.

The SIN CITY star bought the 15-room duplex condominium for $10.5 million (GBP5.8 million) in DONALD TRUMP's Manhattan skyscraper Trump Tower in 2000.

Willis first placed the apartment up for sale last year (04) for a staggering $19.95 million (GBP11 million), but ended up accepting $14.5 million (GBP8 million) on Friday (24JUN05), reports the NEW YORK POST newspaper.

Broker DOLLY LENZ of Prudential Douglas Elliman, enthuses, "Both parties were eventually happy at the end of the very long negotiations."

Action star thrilled with 'the best film crew in Toronto' for latest movie 16 Blocks [Jun. 24th, 2005|02:38 pm]
Beedub Love
theniffler
By JENNIFER BILL -- Sun Media

Bruce Willis knows he's not going to make his fans swoon in his next movie.

The Hollywood heavyweight said goodbye to his tough-guy good looks in favour of a not-so-pretty paunch and tired, baggy eyes to play aging cop Jack Mosley in 16 Blocks, the latest film employing Toronto as New York City.

The Richard Donner-directed production, which wrapped here this week after 10 weeks, stars Willis as a washed-up, gut-heavy cop with a receding hairline -- a far cry from his usual hunky hero roles.

On set this week near Yonge and Richmond Streets, Willis, looking banged up between takes with a blood-spattered shirt and a bandaged hand, acknowledged the change in leading roles.

"I'm not playing Bruce Willis. I'm not handsome. I'm bald. I'm fat," he said gesturing to the fake gut pushing out of his pants. "It's a character."

Willis, speaking exclusively during his last day of filming in Toronto, had only good things to say about the city he was leaving behind to continue filming in New York.

"It's really nice. I'm glad to be here. It's a nice city. We were fortunate enough to get the best film crew in Toronto. A lot of these guys passed on other films to be here.

"Also we found a great restaurant," he said, referring to Yorkville celeb favourite Sotto Sotto.

Director Richard Donner (Lethal Weapon, Maverick, Superman) described the experience filming here as magical.

"Everything worked like a hot knife to butter," he said.

"It was great, really great. Great town, great people." The movie's film crew was made up fo about 98% Torontonians.

"You know, it sounds like bullshit, but this is the best film crew I've ever worked with. Most caring, involved, committed, and just totally professional in their jobs, and they love doing it. It really, really is incredible. People really like living here I guess. They've got pride in their city, pride in themselves."

And luckily, the city's weather was mostly on their side.

"There were days here when the hail came down and we froze our asses off," Donner, 78, said. "Then I had second thoughts. But ... the last couple weeks have been magic.

"There are days that are up and days that are down. There's good, there's bad," he continued. "But (we came) away from it feeling like it was hell of a great shoot."

Willis also praised his co-star in the movie, rapper-turned actor Mos Def (Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, The Italian Job), who plays a jailed petty criminal who must be delivered 16 blocks from the police precinct to the courthouse. Willis' character is put in charge, and in true Hollywood suspenseful action-movie style -- all hell breaks loose. The film also stars David Morse (Green Mile.)

"We found a great actor. The film would have been completely different had we not had Mos Def," said Willis. "The relationship we have in the film ... amazing."

Ugly Bruce... that'll be a first.

R+B star USHER has been so inundated with movie offers since he announced his acting plans - he was forced to turn down a BRUCE WILLIS film.

After the phenomenal success of his award-winning CONFESSIONS album last year (04), Usher is taking a break from music to hone his second career on the big screen, after small roles in teen movies SHE'S ALL THAT and THE FACULTY.

Usher has just finished filming romantic comedy DYING FOR DOLLY and is preparing to join BEYONCE KNOWLES and JAMIE FOXX in musical DREAMGIRLS.

He enthuses, "I've been discussing doing another role with Jamie Foxx, and another with TOM CRUISE - so we'll see.

"I was so busy a while ago that I actually had to pass up a film with Bruce Willis. It got that crazy."

From Contactmusic.com:

BRUCE WILLIS was so impressed with MOS DEF's performance in the acclaimed play TOPDOG/UNDERDOG, he personally called the rapper to offer him a role in his upcoming movie 16 BLOCKS.

Mos Def, real name DANTE SMITH, appeared in the PULITZER PRIZE winning production, catching the eye of critics and Willis alike.

The hip-hop star says, "I was in Miami recording and Bruce gave me a call. Bruce Willis called me personally, 'Yo, dude, check this movie out. I'd love you to be a part of it.'

"How often does that shit happen?'"

16 Blocks, which is currently in production, is scheduled to be released next year (06).

A four-week survey among FortuneFun.com's 90,000 American players produced almost 3,000 votes to rank the 25 top American fathers. President George Herbert Walker Bush topped the list of favorite celebrity fathers, according to the poll, which put Will Smith, Tom Hanks and Bill Cosby among the top five fathers. Homer Simpson came in at No. 7, with Walter Cronkite, Regis Philbin and Bruce Willis rounding out the list.

"We were surprised at Bush Sr.'s top spot," said John Wallis, CEO of FortuneFun.com. "Perhaps the fact that America is at war and looking for leadership is why Poppy Bush won."

Bruce Willis at 50 [Jun. 5th, 2005|11:55 pm]

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

TOKYO - It's hard to believe Bruce Willis is 50. It is even harder to
believe it has been 17 years since he played the wisecracking John
McClane in "Die Hard" that catapulted him from TV star to
international movie stardom.

"I was just a punk kid back then, coming from 'Moonlighting' on TV. I
thought I knew everything," Willis said during a recent visit to Japan
to promote his latest film "Hostage" and do a car commercial. "But
now, I think I am still learning how to act. I've been fortunate that
I have been able to do parts that are right for my age. The characters
are more mature and better written."

In "Hostage," directed by Frenchman Florent Siri, Willis plays Jeff
Talley, a failed LAPD hostage negotiator who has become the police
chief in a small town. When three punks take a family hostage in a
mansion, the situation quickly gets out of control. It seems the
hostage dad has a criminal secret. Talley is threatened by a
mysterious group (Mafia, Feds, CIA, take your pick) that if he doesn't
defuse the situation and deliver an item from within the house, his
own wife and daughter will be killed.

Based on the novel by Robert Crais, "Hostage" features plenty of the
action that audiences expect from a Willis movie. It's a genre the
tightlipped star finds hard to leave. Apart from occasional successes
like "The Sixth Sense" in 1999, his forays into other genres,
particularly comedy, have bombed.

"I have had so much success with action that it's hard to break away,
but I feel the genre needs to reinvent itself," he said. "I tried hard
in 'Hostage' to make it so that audiences wouldn't be sure whether or
not Talley saves everyone. It's not just an action film, it's more
about how far you would go to save your family."

Willis' 17-year-old daughter Rumer is cast as Talley's daughter. "We
had a lot of fun," he said of their scenes together. Asked how far he
would go to save his family, Willis responded: "I don't know. I hope I
am never in that situation. I think the work of hostage negotiators is
never fully appreciated. They do a difficult job and it's good to make
a film about them."

At 50, Willis shows no signs of slowing down, mixing lead roles with
smaller parts in indie productions. Sometimes he can't keep track of
it all himself. "I'm doing one now in Toronto ... I can't remember the
name, oh yes, '16 Blocks.' I'm really enjoying myself. I got to make a
cameo with a bunch of friends in 'Ocean's Twelve' just for fun. Next
summer, we're making 'Die Hard 4.0.' That's a challenge because our
goal is to make it a success even if you haven't seen the first three.
The first one is still my favorite."

Before that, Willis will be seen in "Sin City," followed by "Lucky
Number Slevin," "Alpha Dog," "Over the Hedge" and "Solace." He is also
discussing a horror film with Japanese director Hideo Nakata. Whatever
he chooses, the burly actor knows that his business is very much hit
and miss.

"I just finished a movie with Sir Ben Kingsley and he said something
that stuck with me. We're like gladiators who have to suit up again
and entertain audiences, no matter how your last film did. It is
always a challenge."

Another challenge for Willis is keeping in shape, something that gets
harder as he ages, he admits. "I don't enjoy working out as much as I
used to since it's all for work nowadays. I just try to eat right and
not be stupid," he said.

And how about this one?...

Bruce Willis, here shooting 16 Blocks, walks into the bar at the Four
Seasons last week. Not inconspicuous.

Walks up and down, making die-hard eye contact with every lovely in
the room. Including the female at the centre of a bridal shower event
at the back.

When she sees him, and he sees her seeing him, she rips off the sash
she has on over her dress. Necks crane. Snickering is heard. The words
written on the now-abandoned sash? "Bride-to-Be"!

Hahaha!! I'd have done the same thing!

This is weird to me. LOL.

Bruce Willis is giving Justin Timberlake the thumbs-up for his first big Hollywood role.

They both star in 'Alpha Dog' - a drama based on the real-life of a drug dealer who became one of the youngest men ever to be on the FBI's most wanted list.

Word is, Justin's also being groomed to play Bruce's son in 'Die Hard 4'.

Whilst Bruce rates Justin, he's not so flattering about his ex, Britney Spears:

"I think he's great, I didn't do a whole lot of scenes with him but he did a great job."

"We're living in a pop culture world and they want everybody to be an actor. They want Britney Spears to be an actor."

"I don't think you can be thrown into that world and become an actor."

"I think acting is a craft. I think you have to learn the tools of that craft before you commit anything to film history."
