bsgvidrecs's Journal

bsgvidrecs is a community for sharing your favorite bsg fanvideos. Posting is open to all members at all times. In addition, if you have a bunch of vids to rec, you can sign up as a guest reccer for a particular month. In doing so, you're committing to posting at least one rec to the community per week.

THE RULES

Read This Before You Post!

Rule # 1: All posts to this community MUST be vid-recs. Posting for any other purpose (for example, advertising) is not allowed unless you have permission from one of the mods.

Rule # 2: HOW TO POST

To post a rec, please just copy/paste the following format, shamelessly stolen from spnvidrecs:

<b>Vid Name(including link)/Vidder:</b> <b>Song/Artist:</b> <b>Genre:</b> <b>Why you’re reccing the vid:</b>

Please TAG YOUR RECS using the existing tags, which you can find on the right-hand sidebar. First, pick a genre (ship vid, character study, etc). Then if applicable, pick a character or ship tag. Please ONLY use a character or ship tag if the vid focuses primarily on that character or ship. For example, "God is a DJ" would get a Kara Thrace tag. An ensemble piece in which Kara appears along with other characters would not. This makes it easier for people to use the tags to find the particular type of vid they're in the mood for.

Rule # 3: No self-reccing.

Rule #4: Saturday-Thursday, only BSG vid recs allowed. Crossovers are fine. However, every week we'll have a Friday Fandom Free-For-All, during which you are allowed, nay, encouraged to rec your favorite vids from other fandoms.

Rule #5: NO EMBEDDING OR DIRECT LINKING! This prevents the vidder from receiving feedback for their work, and is just not cool.

Rule #6: Quality is subjective, and one person's favorite vid may not work for everone. While it's absolutely fine to thank a reccer for linking you to a vid you enjoyed, this is not the appropriate place to offer critique or to debate the recs. Flaming is absolutely not tolerated.

In short, what Thumper said.

Rule #7: Not really a rule, but if you like a rec, consider leaving some feedback for the vidder, and even better, mentioning where you found it. You'll make them happy and pimp the community, so what's not to like?
