The selection of sugar free syrups is pathetic locally, so I did an online hunt back before Christmas and found www.buycoffeecanada.com

They have a wonderful selection, and not just for sugar free syrups! They also have some really nifty flavors for those of us who don't have gingebetes like husband-bot (over 70 of them, in fact!).

We got an e-mail letting us know that they were starting to offer a selection of loose leaf teas, so we had to check it out. While there, we decided to get a bunch of pumps for our syrup collection... and stumbled across a few new k-cup varieties to try out, plus a reusable "Perfect Pod EZ-cup" that is actually compatible with our fancy-shmancy plumbed in Keurig machine. Sweet!!

The best part? The company behind the website is a small business in Ontario. It's nice being able to support a small business, especially a Canadian one!

I'm so frustrated with how my brain works post-brain injury already. Seriously. It remembers and understands materials just fine, but when it comes time to write the exam I end up making STUPID mistakes... and then I realise many of my mistakes shortly after finishing the exam.

How the hell am I ever supposed to get where I want to in life if I can't start getting the grades that match my knowledge?!

::ETA::
After careful consideration of my exam (we got to take the question booklet home) I've calculated that I got a 74%. It's not as horrible as I feared, although it EASILY should have been in the 80's (simply drawing out my pathways, like I've practiced for TWO WEEKS, would have made a lot of mistakes not happen). *sigh*

Still an improvement over my abilities pre-Isabelle... just not quite where I need to be yet. I guess that's understandable since this is my first term back.

THERE IS HOPE!! I just have a lot of work cut out for me, and that's OK.

Well hello there. 's been a while. I suppose I never did post photos of Isabelle on here (although most of those on my flist see the ones I post on facebook...) For those of you who aren't connected over there, I'll add a couple under the ( cutCollapse )

Brandon and I couldn't be happier, or more blessed, with our angel. She's the happiest, most content baby I've ever known (or heard of!), and has been a great sleeper from the start. < /gushing > I also got my pre-baby figure back quickly, and without an ounce of exercise. #PleaseDontHurtMe

I start classes again today. I'm nervous and excited to see how things go now that pregnancy with Isabelle has resolved a lot of my accident-related issues (ie: my chronic back pain and sleep issues appear to be a thing of the past *knock on wood*). Here's hoping those changes are permanent, and that I can now perform the way I SHOULD be in school! The trick now will be finding a schedule that will allow me to study and still be an involved parent... and stick to it!

For now I shall get back to my oatmeal and tea so I can head down to campus.

LET'S DO THIS!!

P.S.: Still in Saskatoon, but we bought a new build out in the newest sub-division in town. It's amazing! More on that later... (although I promise it won't take me 7 months, like the pictures of Isabelle did).

Never let go of hope. One day you will see that it all has finally come together. What you have always wished for has finally come to be. You will look back and laugh at what has passed and you will ask yourself... "How did I get through all of that?"

I really can't explain how deeply this quote speaks to me. It's as if this person were talking directly to me when these words were uttered. Wow.

Well, there goes my good mood for the day.

NYTimes, the bastion of quality reporting, reported on the gang-rape of an 11 year-old girl in Texas  that's led to charges against 18 high-school boys so far - all well and good so far, right?  Shit like this NEEDS publicity to raise awareness.

Only problem is, they repeated - without refutation or critical commentary - the claims that the girl brought the rape on herself because of the way she was dressed.

Choice Quotes (No cut b/c everyone needs to see this - DEAL.):

“It’s just destroyed our community,” said Sheila Harrison, 48, a hospital worker who says she knows several of the defendants. “These boys have to live with this the rest of their lives.”  As opposed to the victim, who's gonna bounce back lickety-fucking-split, right?

Residents in the neighborhood where the abandoned trailer stands — known as the Quarters — said the victim had been visiting various friends there for months. They said she dressed older than her age, wearing makeup and fashions more appropriate to a woman in her 20s. She would hang out with teenage boys at a playground, some said.  TOTALLY BEGGING FOR IT.

THIS IS RAPE CULTURE, PEOPLE.

Now, what's being said and done in this community is bad enough, but the NY Times should be fucking ashamed of themselves right now.

Subject:NERD!!
I'm taking Computer Science 111 this term. Brandon just taught me how to access a program that lets me get to my files on the school's computer network, so that I can run programs that I write the code for and all that. This also meant having to learn a bunch of Linux code.

Oh, and I also started learning how to play Magic: The Gathering tonight.

Nerd status will be achieved in no time!!

Why can't I convince my brain it wants to learn?
