Student teaching is AMAZING. We're on Spring Break right now, but when we get back, I'll be continuing to work with the kids one-on-one to make a class My Favorite Musical Instrument book. I also made an age-appropriate book on Monet and Impressionism to read to them, and we're going to start on a unit on that as well (we've been working with the dot paints the past week and the kids LOVE them). Plus my mom is coming in to read to the kids the Tuesday we're back-for those of you who don't know, my mother is a professional storyteller. :)
We also took the kids to the school's talent show, which was a blast-it's so funny singing along to "I Gotta Feeling" with 3, 4, and 5 year olds lol. There was a Michael Jackson tribute, and when we got back to the classroom, the kids cleared an area and put on a show of them dancing like Michael Jackson. We taught them the moonwalk lol.
I'm recovering from some unpleasant asthma trouble. For those of you who don't know, I'm a severe virally induced asthmatic, so that nasty cold I got turned into asthma-a lot of hacking. I've been resting up as much as possible, which has really helped, and then my mom took me to this incredible salt cave yesterday, which besides being incredibly relaxing, really helped my cough.
My grandmother is doing as well as can be expected. We found this incredible woman to come be their full-time help...she comes highly recommended and even makes homemade chocolates! One of which I am eating right now, and let me tell you, it is incredible. My grandmother is frail, but in good spirits, and is really enjoying herself reading all the books and watching the movies we are buying her.
This week should be great-I've been getting to relax and watch movies and vid and write...then tomorrow I'm spending the day with my mom, Thursday I'm spending the afternoon with my brother's girlfriend (who I am really good friends with), and Friday I'm having breakfast with one of my best friends, visiting the little girl I used to nanny for, and having a sleepover with my best friend. Saturday my best guy friend, whom I met in college and haven't gotten to see since graduation (though we talk all the time) will be in Chicago, so we have a full day of visiting, sight-seeing, meeting one of my best friends for coffee, having dinner with my parents, going to the Bulls game, and then meeting two of my other best friends for drinks :)
