I was so excited to win this and totally did not expect to! :) Here is the drabble if you want to read it:
There is no embrace, no cheek kiss, just a smile and the simple straightforward declaration of a brother lost and now found. And he keeps a matching smile on his face as he inwardly reels at the gun now an extension of a once-pale and delicate arm, the matted and crusted hair now so far from Aaron’s down-soft gold.
This is no reunion with his sister, but with a stranger. She has both grown up and regressed, she can kill but not love, she clings to a smoky man who can never be held.
He finds himself wishing he had never found her again. She is too lost.
And a new drabble, my very first time writing Ji Yeon, for the prompt "Reflection":
Ji Yeon never drinks water, not knowingly. Her grandmother mixes it into orange juice, uses it in soups, but somehow afterwards Ji Yeon always finds it hard to breathe. The doctor has no explanation, nor the therapist, and the grandmother no longer hands coins to Ji Yeon for wishing wells. Ji Yeon will only run for dry land.
One day, after school, Ji Yeon trips, lands with her face perilous centimeters from a large puddle. The reflection is blurry ghosts and old photographs on a broken digital camera lying at the bottom of a secret ocean, and Ji Yeon is crying. Her watery tears wrench her breath away.
