We have a yellow budgie named Lola. I don't know how old she is as we "inherited" her when her owners emigrated.
She's on her own in the cage however there is usually someone around all day and when we go out, we leave music on for her.
My question is, should we get her a friend? If she hears budgie noises, she gets very animated. The thing I don't want to lose is her interaction with us as she is so friendly and even gives kisses and does the head thing that they do when they are all excited. She especially loves my Mum in Law (very strange I know).
My other worry is that they won't get on and I'd hate to get another budgie and it not work out. We have enough room for one cage and we leave it open all day so that Lola can come and go as she wishes.
Cheers

Hello, yo, and various other greetings!
I just wanted to say hello to the community and mention myself.
This is a journal account specifically devoted to recording happenings of Ridley, the pale blue budgie, and has photo-posts and stuff like that if you want to check it out!
I'd be happy to post some of the best pictures over here, too!

Alright...I have a budgie named Hermes, and he's about 3 years old. He's already hand taimed, he'll jump on my finger, peck at my nail, sit on my legs/shoulders/anywhere. But, about a year ago, he had smashed into a mirror I had forgotten to cover when i let him out, and when he did I picked him up gently, and he went berserk! He bit me and screamed and tried to get away, so I just put him in his cage. Later on, when he had calmed down, I picked him up again, you know using the cupping method, and tried to check his wings and head out to make sure he was alright, and he went berserk again, so I studied him from afar to see if he was alright. (He was thank god). So now, a year later, he won't let me touch him anymore, or pet him, not even kiss him. He tries to bite me, and especially loves biting my nose (thats affection, right?). So, I was hoping someone could help me in training him to be held again? I miss cuddling my baby!
You know, Moxie has not always been the most playful budgie, but every now and then a little hint of why we call him Moxie pops out. Lately he's been doing this thing where he won't let Jill in his cage. He blocks the top door and bops Jill on the head! I have no idea why, but it's so darn funny. Moxie's cage has two doors, and it never seems to occur to Jill to use the other one - he just tries to dart around Moxie. He seems to take some sort of pleasure in this joke on Jill.
