its part and parcel of what makes a game, it’s hard to see were the group is with out one and adds continuity to sessions that return to those maps. I have found that the pro fantasy soft ware company is really good they have a range of programs that are very versatile and allow you to make nice maps with out to much effort; obviously you need to understand the progs first, as they are pretty big http://www.profantasy.com/have a look, I have most of the packs, still need to get the space one though, It wasn’t out when I bought the rest. If any one wants a look before buying I am happy for them to drop around or I can visit with the relevant disk |

its one of those things.
I have fairly strong opinions on this but I wondered what the general opinion was.
Group splits good or bad, should you as a gm intervene in these inevitable thing and bring the group back together, or should that be the groups job, if they are a group they should after all want to remain together |

looks like it could be worth a look, its due out at the end of the month, sounds awesome http://www.coldsteelreign.com/index.php/2005/03/25/cold-steel-reign-players-guide/
the fatalist system sounds like it could be quite cool, and i personally like the look of the religious control with some dark sorcery and steam looming on the horizion. from what i have read so far it could well be a very good system, with an excellent game concept

By popular demand I shall be shortly endeavouring to run Call of Cthulhu for certain august members of this group (you know who you are you shameless miscreants), which I’m really looking forward to truth be told, but rather than me impose a scenario or setting on you, I wanted to send out some feelers (or should that be pseudopods?) as to the kind of Cthulhu folks want, as many of you no doubt know the Cthulhu ‘brand’ covers a multitude of sins. So please do reply to this mail and be a fulsome, contentious (and rambling if you want) in doing so.
A few points of reference, what I’m looking for broadly from each of you?
Favourite Time? Three biggies here, the inter war years (20’s-30’s), Victoriana, and modern/post-modern.
Favourite starting locale: The main blast here is the UK and the US, although globetrotting is a certain chaosium based scenario tradition.
Style & Tone: are you a Lovecraft purest, an exponent of the chaosium/august derleth style or do you want to be surprised by what you come across?
Myself I’m pretty good for ‘ought so to speak, I’ve range just about the lot from Indian jones style tomb raids in Egypt, great depression labour-unrest conspiracies to modern nightmare police procedural to 1850’s Africa to post apocalypse and cthuhu wild west
The best axioms in my opinion are: 1930’s US (great depression) Early 1920s Brit (postwar) 1890s London 1870s Colonial Present day a la delta green
My natural inclinations are as follows: lots of clues & brooding threats, a dash of cosmic horror and some bled in real world occult, folly punished by dire fates, a little historical realism, oh and I never run publish scenarios, though I may mercilessly steal from and tamper with the, open dice rolling by the gm for combat, but everything else sub-rosa, you will have control of your character sheets, though with the precarious nature of sanity …they may be lying to you. So make some comments through out some ideas etc and we’ll go from there.
Thankyee all as always The Bligh

give the chap a hand everyone "Very important... I'm writing my final thesis at the moment, which is due 07-25-2005...
The topic is Roleplaying games as interactive creative fiction, and I need some data... In order to get it, I enlisted khamura to put a survey into the internet. Nothing complicated, just some questions about RPGs and about writing stories and what you think about it all...
And now I'll come to my plea... Please, everyone, go here... Fill in your answers... There's a German and an English version, so everyone should be able to understand it...
AND go out and spread the word...
PLEASE!
Thank you!
