Hi all- I'm a former Houstonian, coming home after 8 years away, and bringing my furkids along. Is there anywhere that I can find a list of Houston dog parks? My pack has been in AZ for too long, and I'd love to find a place I can take them so they can run safely.. Help?

My pack consists of the following-
11 y/o basenji mix
8 y/o lab/blue lacey mix
5 y/o boxer/shar pei
4 y/o boxer/basset
...and before anyone asks, yep, all vax'd, microchipped, speutered, and well- socialized.

I'd also like recommendations for good veterinarians- the 8 y/o is showing some signs of arthritis, and I'd like to find a doc before there are any pressing health issues. I was so spoiled by my previous vet...

We finally figured it out! The snuggly warm dog hat and scarf is finally here! After some long, hard, tedious work, we finally got them past production! We made them in 3 sizes, XS, SM, M/L. We're also almost done with the slotted hats for the ears to poke out of. I'll post images of those when they're finally ready as well!

Thanks everyone for all the feedback and suggestions! You flippin' ROCK!

So last night I was going through last winter's bag of ideas for winter dog hats and I found this funny red corduroy one which Stewie just loves to wear. I always laugh so hard when he wears this one but it poses a good question for this season's line of winter-wear....

QUESTION:
What is in more of demand by the customer???
a) Dog hats with cute lil teddy ears on the side or
b) Dog hats with lil slits for the pet's real ears to poke out of?

Help me out here... Let's put it to a VOTE!

Okay guys. This could be a long stretch (seeing as this community is still pretty new and has barely any members) but a lady has been posting to Craigslist.org frantically for a few weeks now. The poor lady posts every day, sometimes twice a day. Here's the scoop:

Lady owns 2 siberian huskies. Back in April they vanished. I'm not sure if they somehow got out and took off, or if someone possibly had stolen them from her backyard? Anyway, point being is.. she posts constantly, always in the search of her babies. This is her exact posting:

2 Female Siberian Huskies
One White with Blue Eyes
One Black White and Silver with Blue Eyes
Please Help Find
Both dogs are micro chipped and spayed
REWARD
I just want them home and inside where they belong
If you have seen these dogs please please email me
Whoever said they saw a man taking them to Michigan please call 832-297-7628

She has posted to vet clinics in the Katy/Sealy area, as well as numerous clinics in surrounding Houston. She has contacted rescue groups such as CAPS, HSPCA, Huskyhaven.org, along with Aussie rescue groups, etc. Nothing has helped thus far.

Today there seems to have been a post in response to hers on craigslist. It was from someone claiming he/she knew where the huskies were and said that they were safe. Apparently this person's friend now has the two huskies and refuses to return them because he/she has fallen in love with this other woman's animals. This isn't right and it tugs at my heart, as it should yours.

She is only one lady. We are dog lovers living in the same generalized area. Keep your eyes on the look for two female huskies. If this new person loves the dogs this much, they could frequent dog parks, vet offices, petco/petsmart, be walking on the side of the road, etc. Let's join together as a community and bring this poor lady her dogs back.

Hey everyone..I saw the link to this community from the mod's post in the german shepherd comm.

My name is Jamie, I am 21 and live in kingwood. I have 2 dogs..a white siberian husky named Zelda who will turn 2 on june 23rd, and I just rescued a german shepherd on death row from the galveston shelter and named him Bravo. I volunteer with husky haven rescue and the austin german shepherd rescue.

We frequent the woodlands dog park and kingwood dog park..every now and then we will go to millie bush but it is a drive. I have also been to the one by buffalo speedway with some of the other husky owners involved in the rescue when we have play dates.

Here are pics of my crew :)

hello houston!

i think this is an awesome community, can't wait to see it grow.

i have two dogs. one is a black lab mix (chelsea), not sure what she is mixed with, maybe chow. also, i have a beautiful yellow lab (zoey). the black one is about two years, and the yellow is a little over a year old. they're both sweet and terrors at the same time.

i was told by my vet that the yellow lab needs to lose about 5 lbs, so i decided i would start walking her a few times a week. usually i was only able to let her run around in the front yard for a few minutes, but i changed my hours at work. so now i can devote more time walking her. also, i don't want to leave the black one out so i'm walking her too. except, i CANNOT walk them at the same time. believe me, i've tried and it just does not work. it's been pretty exhausting walking both at separate times, but that's the only way i can walk them. so it looks like i'll be losing 5 lbs at this rate too.

anyway, just wanted to make my first post here. so this isn't just text only, i'll share a vid i made of them.

meet chelsea and zoey!

hey all. how often do you frequent the dog parks and which happens to be your favorite?

so far sienna has only gone to the one up highway 6... then again, she just now finished all her puppy vaccines and is deemed fairly immune. i can generally only take her wednesday, saturday, and sunday due to my work schedule but i am thinking of trying to go more often.
