I met my pre-birthday goal of coming in under 30 minutes in the 5k I ran this morning (29:30 - pretty close whew!).  Yay for my soon-to-be-30-year-old-ass!   I am also going to be undertaking my most ambitious project yet...stay tuned...it all hangs in the balance for the next 48 hours.  Dum dum duuuuum (as mandalion might say/type) !!!!

FIN-ally there's relief in sight...

Woooooooo doggy! We are FINALLY going on a freaking vacation/honeymoon/first anniversary/Jim's birthday trip. Snowful fun at Lake Tahoe from March 17 to March 25th. This may include a Dana Carvey show at the Caesar's Tahoe casino! Choppin' Brocco-lee-heeh! Yeah!!! Can't wait!!!

3 times the fun!

I got 3 books going currently...
Book meme
1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don't search around and look for the coolest book you can find. Do what's actually next to you.

#1 - "'You are interested in French novels?' he blurted, not realizing until too late how incredulous the question started."

#2- "It did the job."

#3- "Jeremy, aside from his Atkins obsession, has never grown out of his penchant for fraternity hijinks."

Hm.

Mr. & Mrs. Clean Fletcher

Good cleaning tips...need to clean my car windows and the hard water deposits on my sinks soon; also I should wipe our walls down, maybe it'll inspire us to get painting!

http://frugalliving.about.com/od/cleaning/a/frugalclean.htm

Husband and I are planning to commit a whole weekend to "Spring Cleaning" and organizing the house. Highlights to include:

* organizing household paper records
* Wiping down all walls to prep for painting
* Rearrange bedroom furniture
* Do something with my wedding dress, it needs to be put away.
* Extra crap into attic
* Clean out garage
* Try vinegar to get cat pee smell out of couch
* Eliminate hard water stains from all sinks, tubs, showers (use bleach & baking soda)

Furniture we really need to make our house look like normal people live there:
*Non-ghetto, earthquake-safe bookshelf
*Bed frame/headboard
*Dresser with mirror
*TV cabinet (big enough for the 10,000 inch TV we have or whatever it is!)
*Vanity set for my little bedroom alcove so I can get all my makeup crap off the bathroom sink

I'd love to have the time and knowledge to hunt for yard sale treasures to restore or repaint. I think we should have a yard sale to unload some of my crap though...yes yes yes...

Money Matters

NEED to talk to Washington Mutual about what to do with my Simple IRA and ask about a 529 College Savings Plan.

This is what makes me sad...

....the mathematical skills and concepts likely to be tested on the Graduate Record Examinations General Test. This material, which is divided into the four basic content areas of arithmetic,
algebra, geometry, and data analysis, includes many definitions and examples
with solutions... Note, however, this review is not intended to be comprehensive.
It is assumed that certain basic concepts are common knowledge to all
examinees.

Yeah don't assume anything when an examinee is a product of Hawaii public schools....sheesh. www.ets.org may help, or maybe a brain transplant?

Skool Stuff

Need to remember to follow up on:

CSU Fresno - it is possible to enroll in online courses (criminology lower division) thru Open University, just need the instructor's approval. The downside: I don't think you can get federal financial aid if you are not officially accepted into a degree-granting program. Plus, I already have a bachelor's, I don't think they give money for 2nd undergrad degrees :( Must check this at the fafsa website.

Cal Poly - call and see if I can "add on" their Criminal Justice Concentration to my bachelor's. At the very least I can take the courses thru Open University...I don't think they would allow much more than that, seeing as they apparently do not accept people seeking a 2nd bachelor's degree....weird. It would look nicer if I had some kind of certificate though. hm.

Kaplan ..they cost just about as much as other universities believe it or not! Very leery of their nontradtional status though.

Check out other schools: http://dir.yahoo.com/Education/Distance_Learning/Colleges_and_Universities/

Good Old Michigan State (MS in CJ): http://online-contined.msu.edu/program.asp?program=5

I have been missing dancing horribly lately. I KNOW I have been slacking with trying out the bellydance and hip hop DVDs I bought, but I really miss dancing in an actual studio.

MONDAYS: 6:30- 8:30 pm Capoeira
TUESDAYS: (after 9/27) 6 - 7:30 pm Beg. Modern or
6 - 7 pm Bellydance 1
WEDNESDAYS: 7 - 8:30 pm African or
8 - 9:30 pm Capoeira
THURSDAY: 6:30 - 7:30 pm Bellydance mixed
7:00 - 8:30 pm Int/Adv Modern (if I can get in skill-level-wise)
