There are some changes needed in Wikipedia's sneaker part. So kindly give me permission to change it. Khushbakht123 (talk) 17:47, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. – dudhhr talkcontribssheher 17:48, 30 November 2023 (UTC)

[edit]There need to be more specifications about grenhouse gaz emissions by the shoes manufacturing industry, it is close to 14 kg of CO2 footprint by a pair of shoe. 194.153.110.5 (talk) 15:06, 19 January 2024 (UTC)
Misinformation
[edit]"In Latvia any sneakers are still called botas after the Czech footwear company Botas, whose produce was one of the few foreign brands of sneakers available during the Soviet occupation." As a Latvian, I can surely say that this sentence is inacurate. This is just funny, because nobody says like that not now not in the past. Botas (latv. botes) are called so rather because of the russian word boots (рус. боты) corresponding to any type of heavy or warm winter boots. 87.110.58.117 (talk) 17:15, 2 February 2024 (UTC)

For other languages and accuracy
[edit]For other languages and accuracy, kindly allow Athletic shoes.---Jondel (talk)
- This is the English language Wikipedia. What is your specific concern with other language Wikis that needs to be addressed here? We don't typically add a new article because just to have an analogue in other languages. This is perhaps especially when wikidata items already exists for both of them to provide clarity in linking if needed. —Ost (talk) 20:49, 12 August 2026 (UTC) See also, Talk:Athletic shoe#Languages and sophistication —Ost (talk) 20:58, 12 August 2026 (UTC)
- I've reverted the good faith creation of the Athletic shoe article by User:Jondel. These articles were merged in 2015 and should not be split unless a consensus is discussed here on the talkpage first. 162 etc. (talk) 22:19, 12 August 2026 (UTC)

- The usage or purpose. Leather golf shoes can't be considered as sneakers but are sport shoes. Athletic and sport shoes are for athletic and sports while sneakers are for casual wear. ---Jondel (talk)
- You are using a narrow definition and still did not explain how the difference in other wikis becomes a concern for the English wiki. As User:162 etc. pointed out, consensus has developed on the English Wikipedia that the terms are best covered together, at least partially because there are various regional differences in how the terms are used. Additionally, for your example, golf shoe exists to address that topic. There may be rationale to support moving sneakers to athletic shoe (since this article calls athletic shoe the parent category) or splitting the pages, but new consensus should be developed before making the changes. —Ost (talk) 18:57, 13 August 2026 (UTC)
