B. Wongar
[edit]I noticed that you added this change "known by his pen name B. Wongar and Bozic Wongar". Later, you aded "He also wrote under the name "Bozic Wongar"[4], too. Ref. [4] is wrong in two ways - the Trove site actually advertise the "Dingoes Den" book and in the Notes section said "Sreten Bozic (1932-2026) wrote under the name B. Wongar and Bozic Wongar". An ad should not be referenced, and a full list of Wongar's works, published in English, can be seen in the AustLit database. Browsing the list we see that B. Wongar wrote always under B. Wongar name except i two cases when he used his real name - Sreten Božić. Sreten Božić and Alan Marshall co-authored the books Aboriginal Myths (1972) and A Stone in My Pocket (1974).
As to his autobiography, the Dingoes Den novel, I have the novel copy in German. All I can see in that copy, related to his pen name, is,
"Zu jener Zeit hatte ich schon einen Namen angenomen - >B< für Bozic und Wongar. Das war der Name, der man mir 1970 im Arnhem Land gegeben hatte." B. Wongar Dingoes Den Books on Demand, Oct 10, 2013 p. 159
Google translate:
By that time, I had already adopted a name—"B" for Bozic and Wongar. That was the name I had been given in Arnhem Land in 1970.
I'd like to suggest that you accordingly update this biography. Thank you. ~2026-20428-62 (talk) 06:15, 29 June 2026 (UTC)
- Please write this on the talk page of the relevant article, and I will get back to it and have closer look at some point. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 06:47, 29 June 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for showing cooperativity. Here is a bit broader request for correcctions and improvements ~2026-20428-62 (talk) 16:02, 29 June 2026 (UTC)
In case you don't know, you should be aware of Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Vujkovica brdo and their involvement with the Wongar article and its old WP:INUNIVERSE versions. I'm pretty sure the recent temp accounts that you've been interacting with are socks of the same person. You appear to be doing this already, but check the sources carefully yourself rather than taking things at face value. —David Eppstein (talk) 03:42, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
- David Eppstein - thank you. I was not aware of the long history of the investigations, but did suspect this contributor of being a single-issue editor, for whatever reason... I started working on matching content to citations though, having previously attended to some style issues on the article. I may do a bit more, now that I have found more citations, but won't be just updating per this user's suggestions willy-nilly, don't worry! Laterthanyouthink (talk) 07:14, 9 July 2026 (UTC)

[edit]I just bagged this user adding unsourced and poorly sourced film information again and am tempted to send him to ANI. I know you've reverted him for MOS issues in the past, but I wanted to ask you for an opinion: do you think it's time we report him for persistence and failure to discuss? Jalen Barks (Woof) 19:35, 2 July 2026 (UTC)
- Hi JalenBarks. Hmmm, I'm not sure if he meets the threshold for WP:ANI, but tbh I'm not that familiar with it as only used it a couple of times ages ago... Perhaps - as suggested on that page, try contacting an admin first for advice, or post it at the Teahouse? Laterthanyouthink (talk) 00:41, 3 July 2026 (UTC)
Image addition may have been overlooked
[edit]Hi! I hope you're doing well.
I just wanted to mention that the edit you reverted on the page Ahmed Kathrada did include an image along with a description of the event. It seems it may not have been visible when you reviewed the edit, so I thought I'd bring it to your attention in case it was overlooked.
If you have a chance, would you mind taking another look? Thank you very much for your time and for all your work maintaining the project. Letherian3 (talk) 10:49, 5 July 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Letherian3. Thanks for alerting me to this, I appreciate it. My bad. It was a while ago and I don't recall doing it, but I see that in my haste to revert uncited info, I missed seeing the image there. I have now restored the photo and found some citations and more information about that conference. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 02:50, 6 July 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you so much! Very appreciate it! Will you by chance be visiting Wikimania this year? Letherian3 (talk) 01:54, 20 July 2026 (UTC)
- No worries, Letherian3. Unfortunately, much as I'd like to get there, I can't really afford the trip to Paris. Are you going? Laterthanyouthink (talk) 04:42, 20 July 2026 (UTC)

A comment you made
[edit]It appears that you are not here to build an encyclopaedia.
Yes, you are correct. It is not entirely clear to me if all of the ranty users of that talkpage over the last 5–10 years are this person but there's definitely no real point in engaging with them in any case. --JBL (talk) 23:57, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you. That page is still a bit of a jumble, and David Eppstein alerted me to the sockpuppet investigations yesterday (see above). Laterthanyouthink (talk) 00:05, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
- Ah, sorry, I missed that! Thanks, and happy editing, --JBL (talk) 00:33, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
Articles for Creation backlog drive
[edit]
Hello Laterthanyouthink:
WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive in August!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than a month of outstanding reviews from the current 3+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 August 2026 through 31 August 2026.
You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.
Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.
There is a backlog of over 5000 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:37, 19 July 2026 (UTC)
- If you wish to opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself from the mailing list or alternatively to opt-out of all massmessage mailings, you may add Category:Wikipedians who opt out of message delivery to your user talk page.
Request for independent source assessment
[edit]I'm seeking an independent view on Draft:Josh Simons (media executive). It's been declined three times at AfC on the basis that the sourcing is largely routine corporate coverage or primary material.
The draft has been revised into a concise bio in chronological order covering Simons's work as a musician, co-founder of Vampr and later media executive. Before making another submission, I would really appreciate your assessment of whether the strongest sources, taken together, satisfy WP:BASIC and WP:GNG.
The principal sources are:
- AdNews, a dedicated career profile tracing his progression from songwriter and band member to founder and listed-company chief executive;
- Forbes Australia, with substantial coverage of Simons, Vampr's growth and acquisition, and his subsequent appointment at Jaxsta;
- The Sydney Morning Herald, covering Simons and Barry Palmer as the founders of Vampr and discussing the platform's origins;
- The Australian Financial Review, covering his leadership and strategy at Vinyl Group;
- earlier coverage in Beat and the Herald Sun concerning his work with Buchanan.
I am not asking you to review or accept the draft at AfC, and I am not seeking a particular outcome. A frank source-by-source view would be helpful, including if your conclusion is that it doesn't meet the notability threshold and the draft should not be pursued without stronger independent coverage.
Thank you. Vietnammusic101 (talk) 04:10, 26 July 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Vietnammusic101 - I can try to come back to this, but currently on the trail of quite a lot of other things. I see that you have added a news.com.au, and The Australian, Herald Sun, The Music, AFR, Sydney Morning Herald, and Rolling Stone are all good sources, although it depends somewhat on what the sources are used for. Google tells me there's been a bit of a recent kerfuffle that has been reported on in several places, such as here here and in The Australian, which I can't read, so you could have a look at those and see if there's anything worth extracting. Try resubmitting it again in a couple of days. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 01:27, 31 July 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks mate... much appreciated. Since your message I’ve added a further Tech in Asia profile, incorporated brief coverage of the recent Mumbrella dispute from The Australian and The Guardian, and made a few further sourcing and wording changes. The draft is now ready for another look whenever you have time. Should I hold off re-submitting until you take a look? Vietnammusic101 (talk) 07:45, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Vietnammusic101 - sorry for late response, keep getting diverted. I haven't had time to have another proper look, and may not for another day or two, but at a quick glance it looks okay to pass, and I can do that for you when I have time. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 09:30, 4 August 2026 (UTC)
- That's great... many thanks. Vietnammusic101 (talk) 04:43, 5 August 2026 (UTC)

Crater Lake redirect revert
[edit]I changed the Crater lake redirect target to the primary topic, Crater Lake, rather than its disambiguation page. A user can simply miscapitalize it, so redirecting to the primary topic may possibly be a better target. This is sort of similar to how Black sea redirects to Black Sea, rather than Black Sea (disambiguation). I am thinking now "Crater lake" could be too generic of a term, but I am still leaning towards changing its redirect. Let me know what you think. Slothwizard (talk) 17:35, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Slothwizard. If you look at the page history, it was only converted into a disambiguation page in 2019, and later merged with the capitalised form. The lower-case version relates to the type of lake (usually referring to the volcanic crater lake), wheras the capitalised version is a specific instance. Black sea is a little different because "black sea" is not a common term describing something. However, if you wish to have a broader discussion, it's better to raise it on the talk page of the DAB. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 00:53, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
What happened here friend? Multiple unreliable sources (Daily Sun, Telegraph, All Music). WP:AISIGNS in the writing and edit summaries. And I'm not exactly seeing how WP:BIO is established? Granted it could be buried in the cruft and WP:ORGTRIV Sulfurboy (talk) 06:40, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
- None of those are on the deprecated sources list, there are plenty of other sources - and I could see that there were plenty more, although didn't particularly want to get drawn into further editing at the time. However, I've now added more content and sources, which in my judgement clearly establish notability. Not sure where the AI signs are, and I don't think this was noted after it was initially declined. I have now removed the templates. Further issues can be always be discussed on the talk page of the article. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 08:51, 6 August 2026 (UTC)

Quotes
[edit]Hi! I noticed you'd added a block quote in this article. I don't think this particular instance poses copyright issues, but drop-in quotes are generally not a good replacement for normal encyclopedic prose. I've rewritten it to not have a large quote. Best, Vermont (🐿️—🏳️🌈) 03:01, 13 August 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Vermont. It's not actually a blockquote, and I'm still busy on the article - lots more sources to come, so will most likely change. I was in a rush before going out when I saved that, but don't believe that quoting from that article (delivered as a quote on the site) comes near contravening the threshold for copyright). [edit]On 8 September 2026, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Rhoda Roberts, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Rhoda Roberts. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (Rhoda Roberts), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed.
