AfD for Corso Umberto I
[edit]Hello, I saw your recent AfD proposal for Corso Umberto I. While I'm not Italian, a quick search of "corso umberto I Rettifilo" into Google Scholar led to a fair amount of papers,[1][2][3][4][5] with subjects ranging from protection of historic centres to archaeology to ornamental components for architecture in 19th century Naples. Mariamnei, I see from your userpage that you're Italian, participate in WikiProject Archaeology, and are currently doing a PhD, so I'm curious to know what you think about these papers.
I'm not sure if I pinged you correctly, so I thought leaving a talk page message would be safer. Please reply on the AfD page so the discussion is centralised, thank you! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. Felinaex (purr / pawprints) 18:51, 2 June 2026 (UTC) Felinaex (purr / pawprints) 18:51, 2 June 2026 (UTC)

Why is Summer Okibe's article nominated for deletion
[edit]Hi there. I'd like to know Why the Summer Okibe's article has been nominated for deletion especially considering it was only just moved to the mainspace few minutes ago. I'd also asked other experienced editors to help suggest corrections and make it better(via its talk page), I believe a response to that would have been more appropraite than a nomination for deletion. Ibitoru (talk) 09:53, 10 June 2026 (UTC)
- @Ibitoru - Thank you for writing to me. I hadn't realised that it had been edited so recently. Criticism of Abraham Lincoln
[edit]Hello, I just want to give my take on the removal of 'Criticism of Abraham Lincoln'
The article is a synthesis of widely discussed historical interpretations of Abraham Lincoln’s legacy rather than a reproduction of any single source, most of The information I used came from Howard Zinn's 'A People's History of The United States'. I used some opinions from Libertarians like Murray Rothbard and Ron Paul to keep the article non-partisan, as well as some generic mainstream sources like History.com. I have never seen or heard of that article before - I skimmed through it, and it and from what I've seen it largely portrays Lincoln as very positive.
“As a boy, no less than since, Abraham Lincoln had an honorable conscientiousness, integrity, industry, and an ardent love of knowledge.”
“These are very humble incidents, but they illustrate the man's perfect conscientiousness—his sensitive honesty—better perhaps than they would if they were of greater moment.”
“He passed, unmoved by worldly fear or pelf; In all his lusty toil he found not God, In the wilderness he found himself.”
I apologize for this misunderstanding.
Thank you! Apallo334 (talk) 07:36, 14 June 2026 (UTC)

Greetings
[edit]| Greetings | |
| Hey Mariamnei. I am, like you, a Wikipedian interested in Ancient history and archaeology. Currently, I am pursuing an MA in archaeology. Your editing repertoire is most impressive, and I wanted to share my deepest appreciation of your work and to say hello. Yesterday I bought a friend of mine the first Malabi he has ever had, so here's one for you as well. Feel free to talk to me if you need some help, collaboration, or want an opinion on your work (: Bolter21 (talk to me) 21:06, 20 June 2026 (UTC) |
- Hi @Bolter21! Thank you so much for the kind words, you really made my day. 🙂 I hope your MA is going well. what period are you focusing on? And thank you for the Malabi, that's such a sweet gesture! I haven't tried it myself, but now I'm curious... is it that good? It looks like something between panna cotta and gelo di melone!
- I'll be sure to come knocking every once in a while. I'd also be very happy to help out where I can, so please don't hesitate to reach out whenever you like. Looking forward to crossing paths around.. All the best! Mariamnei ✦ reach out 🕊️ 06:18, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Mariamnei,
- Happy I made your day! Malabi is great. It's like a pudding, gently sweet, clean and delicate. In my homeland it is generally served with a syrup made of sugar and rose water.
- My MA studies the city of Jaffa and its environs in the Persian and Hellenistic periods in light of theories about complex and entangled settlement systems.
- I have created an article for Byzantine Palestine. I started working on it but then lost the momentum, and I am quite busy in real life. If you feel like giving it some love, it would be real nice! Best regards, Bolter21 (talk to me) 19:58, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
- @Bolter21 So nice to hear your MA is focusing on Jaffa! I worked on parts of the article's classical era section, so I'd really love to read your research once it's out. And on Byzantine Palestine, the article is looking really developed already, great job on that! I keep finding myself reading more and more about this period, so I'll definitely keep poking around for extra sources to add as I go.
- Also, totally random, but if you ever happen to stumble across this book anywhere:
Aviam, Mordechai (2004). 'The Hellenistic and Hasmonean Fortress and Herodian Siege Complex at Qeren Naftali'. In Aviam, Mordechai (ed.). Jews, Pagans, and Christians in the Galilee: 25 Years of Archaeological Excavations and Surveys, Hellenistic to Byzantine Periods. Rochester, NY: University of Rochester Press. pp. 59–88.
- I would be really grateful. I put together the Qeren Naftali fortress article, but it's missing the most definitive account of the site, which is sitting right there in that chapter, but I just can't track it down anywhere. Only if you have a spare moment though, no pressure at all. Real life comes first, of course! Wishing you the very best of luck with it! Mariamnei ✦ reach out 🕊️ 13:47, 24 June 2026 (UTC)

Bar Kokhba
[edit]Hello!
Do you mind if I join your efforts at Bar Kohba revolt to make the article GA? NorthernWinds ❄️ (talk) 21:44, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
- Hi NorthernWinds! Thank you, I'd really appreciate the help, the more eyes on it, the better. Since the GA review is already under way, I guess the most useful thing at this point would be helping address whatever issues the reviewer raises, things like sourcing, copyediting, or trimming (rather than adding new material, unless you believe there is something important missing; it took quite some willpower to trim it down!). Feel free to take a look at the review page and jump in wherever you see something useful. 🙂 Mariamnei ✦ reach out 🕊️ 06:28, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
- @NorthernWinds if you're up for helping with GAs, would you be interested in taking a look at Hasmonean Judea? 😊 I think it's pretty close to GA level, but there's still some work needed before it's ready for a successful nomination. A few things that might help: checking the text against the references, doing a copy edit pass for clarity wherever needed, and seeing if there's any important information missing. One thing worth keeping in mind: it's already at 8,839 words, just over the 8,000-word mark where length starts to become a consideration. That said, it's just a general guideline, not a hard rule, and can be exceeded if the topic warrants it; length is only one of several GA criteria, so it shouldn't be the main concern. Mariamnei ✦ reach out 🕊️ 08:08, 24 June 2026 (UTC)

[edit]
Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your recent edits to Qeren Naftali fortress when you modified the page, you introduced unknown parameters. Just because you specify |some_param=some_variable does not always mean that variable will display. The |some_param= must be defined in the template. You can look at the documentation for the template you are using but it is also helpful to use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and ensure that the values you have added are displaying correctly. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it. It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. Note I have likely fixed the error by now so check the history of the page to see how it was fixed. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance.

Question about India at the 2028 Summer Olympics redirect
[edit]Question about India at the 2028 Summer Olympics redirect. Xandercorvus389 (talk) 11:33, 30 June 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! I noticed that you redirected India at the 2028 Summer Olympics because of weak sourcing and lack of notability. I was hoping you could clarify what would be needed for the article to be considered suitable as a standalone page.
- My understanding was that the ICC announcement was sufficient to verify India's qualification in women's cricket, although I appreciate that it is a primary source. Would additional independent secondary sources be required before the article should exist, or do you feel it is simply too early for a separate article until more Indian athletes qualify?
- I'm asking so I can better understand the applicable Wikipedia policies and improve my future contributions. Thank you for your time. Xandercorvus389 (talk) 11:45, 30 June 2026 (UTC)
- @Xandercorvus389 - Thank you for writing to me and sorry I previously missed the message. Irradiation assisted stress corrosion cracking moved to draftspace
[edit]Thanks for your contributions to Irradiation assisted stress corrosion cracking. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing as a live article at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability and while this is a notable topic, an unreferenced page is not the way to approach this. I am starting to think that the creation of pages like this is not a constructive use of the time of reviewers. I have converted it to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Ldm1954 (talk) 18:20, 1 July 2026 (UTC)

Jim Rome Is Burning brief restoration
[edit]Just to be clear, I don't make it a habit to restore bad articles. Part of the reason that I did that was not just to reverse the action of a sock, but because of the timing: The BLAR was less than three hours after the tag was applied. Another part of the reason for the restoration was to see if we could do anything with the content, either improve it or move it to Jim Rome. However, after looking through the history, it appears that the only "source" ever used was a link to the show's website, primary, and that went away when the show went away anyway. Draftification script
[edit]Hi there! I wanted to reach out because I noticed your recent draftification of Draft:Insurgency in Pakistan (1994-present). This was a good draftification, so no worries! I wanted to encourage you to use the MoveToDraft script. This script automatically takes care of several things when moving an article to draftspace, including notifying the article creator and potentially significant contributors, tagging the article as a draft, and more. As a bonus, it will also warn you of inappropriate draftification, such as the article being older than 90 days, being previously draftified, or having been edited in the past hour. Overall, it is super helpful for NPP. Let me know if you have any questions. Take care, Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 13:35, 14 July 2026 (UTC)

Unreliable source
[edit]While reviewing and correcting airline pages, I've often found this reference:
Personally, I consider - https://airlinehistory.co.uk - to be an unreliable website. It's a jumble of informations, often incorrect, stolen here and there. When I have more authoritative and confirmed references, I delete it without remorse... Settignano (talk) 15:33, 16 July 2026 (UTC)

About Rasha Thadani
[edit]Hello, and thank you again for reviewing Rasha Thadani and leaving the "Nice start!" feedback during NPP.
The article was subsequently redirected shortly afterward. Since you reviewed the article as part of new page patrol, I was wondering whether, in your view, the article was appropriate for mainspace at the time of review or whether there were concerns that you believe would have warranted redirection. I am trying to better understand the applicable standards for biographies of newly debuted actors.
Thank you Wikipicked (talk) 04:26, 17 July 2026 (UTC)
- @Wikipicked - Thank you for writing to me. Glancing at the article, I do think it probably meets WP:GNG and WP:NBIO. @CNMall41 - Can you please explain your redirecting of the page? Thanks and have a great day! Mariamnei ✦ reach out 🕊️ 08:37, 20 July 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for responding! @Mariamnei
- Let's wait for @CNMall41 inputs then. Wikipicked (talk) 16:00, 20 July 2026 (UTC)
- See WP:CANVASS. It does not meet guidelines and the edit summary is clear that this can go to AfD if you decide to remove the redirect. There are currently two AfDs from your page moves that are at AfD at the moment so would advise attempting another one outside of AfC. I am also still concerned this is not your only account but that can be dealt with outside of someone's talk page. --CNMall41 (talk) 17:18, 20 July 2026 (UTC)
- @CNMall41 Thank you for your reply.
- I wasn't canvassing. I was asking the reviewer of the article because they had already assessed it during NPP and I wanted to understand whether they had any concerns about its suitability for mainspace before it was redirected.
- Regarding the article itself, could you clarify which notability criteria you believe it fails to meet? @Mariamnei mentioned they felt it likely met WP:GNG and WP:NBIO, so I'd appreciate understanding where your assessment differs.
- Regarding the comments unrelated to this, a response has been posted here previously. Wikipicked (talk) 13:54, 21 July 2026 (UTC)
- @CNMall41 - I do not see what the issue here is with the article that @Wikipicked created. You can feel free to explain, but please WP:AGF and explain your actions rather than saying "It does not meet guidelines and the edit summary is clear that this can go to AfD if you decide to remove the redirect" while refusing to explain further. Also, this is certainly not WP:CANVASS; it is perfectly legitimate for them to ask for my opinion on an article that I reviewed. Have a great day! Mariamnei ✦ reach out 🕊️ 14:02, 21 July 2026 (UTC)

Articles for Creation backlog drive
[edit]
Hello Mariamnei:
WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive in August!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than a month of outstanding reviews from the current 3+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 August 2026 through 31 August 2026.
You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.
Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.
There is a backlog of over 5000 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:37, 19 July 2026 (UTC)

You draftified the article while I was still working on it. 2 hours after it was created. And you ignored the "too new" warning . I have finalized the article as an appropriate stub. Every single statement is now referenced. I have followed the procedure and submitted it for review. Since you speedy-draftified it, I would appreciate if you could confirm the article and move it to mainspace. I could technically do it myself, but I rather follow the proper procedure. - @Olivier - In general, an article that does not have an an "under construction" notice and there have not been major edits within the last hour can be draftified. This was the case in this article (there had been one minor edit in the last hour, but I would not consider it significant).
- Either way, the article is acceptable in its current state. I am not able to move it back at the moment because the original article has not yet been deleted. You can submit it at WP:RM/TR or we can wait and be patient. Have a great day! Mariamnei ✦ reach out 🕊️ 12:47, 3 August 2026 (UTC)

Good article nominations RfC
[edit]Hi Mariamnei,
There is an ongoing Request for Comment (RfC) at Wikipedia:Good article nominations/August 2026 RfC, which you may be interested in because in the past year, you have nominated or reviewed more than one good article nomination. This message has also been sent to all subscribers to the Good Article Gazette. The RfC contains many proposals (33 at the time of writing), which are split into the following categories: nominators, reviewers, reviews, volunteer roles, reviewing initiatives, and others. However, you are more than welcome to add any proposals of your own that you wish to put to the community.
By the end of September, all the proposals will have been closed by an uninvolved editor, either as a consensus for one of the options or with no consensus. At this point, editors will be invited again to develop these proposals into coherent policy and implement them.
Thank you for your contributions to the good articles project, and I look forward to your input! (in solidarity), JacobTheRox(talk|contributions) 16:02, 11 August 2026 (UTC)

You've been whacked with a wet trout.
Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly.Your closure of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2002 Qasim Nagar massacre
[edit]Are you aware that an event article must pass WP:NEVENT, rather than just WP:GNG? The event criteria are stricter than the general notability criteria, so this is a rather important fact. I would recommend that you let an experienced admin close the discussion instead. HerrHeulsuse (talk) 08:27, 18 August 2026 (UTC)
- @HerrHeulsuse - Thank you for writing to me. I have edited my closure to indicate that it passes WP:NEVENT, as has been explained by multiple editors in the discussion. If you disagree with me, you may of course open a review of my closure, but I doubt it will be successful.
- I will also point out that your behaviour in the discussion is possibly crossing the line into WP:BLUD. Please be careful. Have a great day! Mariamnei ✦ reach out 🕊️ 08:37, 18 August 2026 (UTC)
- This is curious because an admin who is much more experienced than you, User:Spartaz, said "Is there no suitable merge target ? From the discussion the courage isn't lasting so it's fails NEVENT but there isn't quite enough of a consensus to close it. More input or an ATD would be useful".
- I think someone who did not know to initially include the NEVENT policy in their closing summary is in no place to close such discussions.
- If you want to learn how to close deletion discussions, I think you should start off with ones that are less controversial. You can judge this by the number of relists they have, the topic area, the unanimity of votes. Please keep this in mind for next time. HerrHeulsuse (talk) 08:45, 18 August 2026 (UTC)
- @HerrHeulsuse - I made a mistake and did not initially write NEVENT, but that was indeed my intention. @Spartaz did write as you said, and the clear consensus was that it passes NEVENT. I believe that this conclusion is obvious from the discussion, I stand by the close and I do not wish to continue the discussion here. Once again, if you believe that I am in error, feel free to bring it to WP:DRV, where I doubt it will end with a different conclusion than I came to. - Respectfully, this isn't your conversation and it is appropriate because if we leave it a week and there are other closes in the meantime then that might lead to further DRVs. Spartaz Humbug! 03:54, 19 August 2026 (UTC)
- @Spartaz and @CSGinger14 - I am open to learning. If I made a mistake, I would appreciate if the specific issue is explained to me. - I think at this point this broadly concerns whether you considered NEVENT and the fact of whether users' replies represented votes. Personally, I don't think you did anything wrong other than that you didn't detail your explanation for your decision in your close, which you really should do as a non-administrative editor. Your explanation seemed reasonable, I'll assure you of that, but it doesn't seem to have been enough to satisfy others.
- I might suggest you provide an explanation at the review as to how you interpreted Thebiguglyalien's commentary, and what your specific rationale behind looking at NEVENT the way you did was. Walls of text have already been raised as a concern there, so I'd suggest being thorough but concise.
- All the best,
- CSGinger14 (talk) 06:55, 19 August 2026 (UTC)
- Do you honestly think this is helping or distracting? Spartaz Humbug! 06:59, 19 August 2026 (UTC)
- Providing advice to an editor that specifically requested it, with a single sentence providing an opinion of support and words of reassurance? Stop, you took no issue with someone explicitly taking your side in discussion, and this is starting to cross a line.
- CSGinger14 (talk) 07:10, 19 August 2026 (UTC)
- Ok, respectfully, you do not understand how AFD consensus is formed. Telling someone who has been asked to not close AFDs that the big bad admin is horrible and to just ignore them is not going to help that editor. It's just going to encourage them to repeat mistakes that will lead to more DRVs. Spartaz Humbug! 07:26, 19 August 2026 (UTC)
- I never told them to ignore you, nor is it fair of you to state without any qualifying evidence that I don't understand how AfD consensus is formed. I stated that I didn't believe that they had acted in the wrong, nor did I ever portray you as the "big bad admin". I did however take concern with the fact that you described the user's close as
awful
. What I said was for you to stop harassing me by disqualifying every statement I make without cause or reasonable evidence (as you did above), which is the exact thing that it's simultaneously being claimed I'm doing on my talk page, and which is clearly a serious charge. Why are you given the benefit of the doubt when it comes to what's implied in your statements, when one or two statements are used to broadly characterize 6 of mine? Regardless of how long it is, a conduct violation is still a conduct violation. - Your response to the user below doesn't point to any policy grounds apart from your presuming a stricter interpretation should be expected at DRV given that its
been really hot on ATDs
. While several things you point to are correct, statements likeEditors closing discussions not only need to know the policy but also how the community applies this to actual discussions
imply as fact, without evidence that the closer didn't understand the policy, presumably NEVENT, and didn't pay clear attention to the discussion at hand, with no qualification being provided apart from the arguments of other users made in the DRV to support that statement, which have been challenged by other editors. - Even if it's written in longer form, why do you consider a good-faith check on your conduct to be any more unfair than explicitly qualifying as fact a charge of impropriety against another editor in a public forum? What gives your word more weight than theirs to substantiate that claim, and disqualify the challenge of the users that have come to their support, almost equal in number to you, who have provided equally detailed responses?
- CSGinger14 (talk) 07:45, 19 August 2026 (UTC)

- Do you honestly think this is helping or distracting? Spartaz Humbug! 06:59, 19 August 2026 (UTC)
- Looking at your AFD stats you genuinely don't have much experience of the process and the number of your nominations being speedy kept, suggests that your grasp of policy doesn't match community standards. You need to watch and read 100s of the things and follow the policies and try and work out in your mind the points being made and their actual adherence to policy.
- Editors closing discussions not only need to know the policy but also how the community applies this to actual discussions. If you don't have that understanding you can't possibly interpret how to close and have your close within the range that the community will support.
- The community is broadly inclusionist and yet you have never voted to keep an article in the 345 AFDs you have participated in. I thought I was of a deletionist mindset but that's off the scale.
- Finally, when an discussion is relisted, it's not a vote, it's giving more time for discussion. An experienced closer may well analyse an ongoing discussion and identify gaps in the argument that might need filling to find consensus. That's all I did with my relist.
- NEVENT was being discussed but noone was discussing lasting coverage but that's the key point needed to pass NEVENT.
- DRV has been really hot on ATDs recently and if they are not discussed the consensus might not be the one that preserves as much content as possible.
- Identifying a gap and asking a discussion to close it is not a vote but you cited my relist as a valid opinion in your DRV comments.
- Honestly, and I mean this nicely, you are a long way from being ready to close discussions but I would be misleading you if I pretended otherwise. Spartaz Humbug! 07:21, 19 August 2026 (UTC)
- @Spartaz - Thank you for your comments.
- Firstly, I will note that almost all of my participation in AfD is in my capacity of as a new article reviewer. When I review an article that I don't think is notable, I nominate it for deletion (and honestly, the majority of my nominations are deleted). I have not participated in AfD besides for that, so that explains why I don't have any keep votes. I don't think that shows a deletionist mindset, but rather simply having participated in a specific type of AfD. But if you think I should vote on a larger variety of AfD, I can do that.
- Also, many of the speedy keeps have been when I withdrew a nomination after somebody found more sources that were not originally included in the article and which I did not find in my WP:BEFORE.
- I am sorry I misunderstood your comment. The user filing the review request had viewed it as a vote, so I went along with that. But if anything, that would work against my close.
- If you feel that I am "a long way" from being able to close discussions, I would really appreciate feedback for how to get to that point. Mariamnei ✦ reach out 🕊️ 07:50, 19 August 2026 (UTC)
- I'd suggest 2 areas to work on.
- Firstly, I'd ask myself how other users find sources that you can't. Is there a problem with your before? Are you using the Wikipedia library to find sources? Perhaps the other editors are more permissive of sources than you? If you fix that then your nomination accuracy will improve.
- Secondly, you should participate in AFD as a regular participant. Review the sources, understand how they interact with the GNG and how NOT and BLP impact content.
- When your AFD stats start to normalise with outcomes that are gaining consensus then you are closer to being ready. Spartaz Humbug! 08:28, 19 August 2026 (UTC)
- @Spartaz - Thank you for the feedback. I will try to keep that in mind. Have a great day! Mariamnei ✦ reach out 🕊️ 08:30, 19 August 2026 (UTC)
