Invitation to participate in user research with Wikimedia Foundation

[edit]

Hello,

My name is Jahnavi[1] and I am a design researcher at the Wikimedia Foundation (WMF). The Language and Product Localization Team is conducting a study[2] on how editors create new articles or add new sections to existing articles on Wikipedia. We’d also like you to explore some design concepts and provide feedback. Based on your experience, we believe you would be a valuable participant in this study and would like to invite you to take part in an interview to share your insights on creating new sections or articles on Wikipedia.

This study is taking place between 23rd Sept - 10th Oct. The interview lasts about 75 minutes and is conducted remotely over Google Meet in English. Please note that you would be required to share your screen to demonstrate your process and explore the design concepts. We can provide live interpretation into your preferred language upon request. We are pleased to offer a digital thank you gift through our partner service, Tremendous [3], for completing the interview.

If you would like to participate in an interview, please complete this short form [4]. I will contact you using the email you provide in the form with instructions on how to participate.

If you have any questions or concerns about this research, please feel free to ask me. I look forward to hearing from you,

Jahnavi

ArbCom 2025 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2025 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:51, 18 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Thai name

[edit]

Hi Messhyu, may i know where in the Wikipedia rules that said Thai person should be referred to by his given name? Stvbastian (talk) 14:27, 19 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

No have any rules in Wikipedia to suggest Thai person must be reffered by family name or given name. However, in Thai custom, a person is always reffered by given name solely, not family name solely. Thai family name, if be used, always using with given name at before, to reffer the person by full name. E.g. Teerasil Dangda is always reffered by his full name "Teerasil Dangda" or given name only as "Teerasil", never by family name only as "Dangda". His name on jersey of Thailand football team is also "Teerasil" by Latin script too. So we should respect their custom. You also can read here. Messhyu (talk) 15:51, 19 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Imcdc Bayikewuzi Danabieke is a Kazakh ethnicity person who has original Kazakh name "Baikonys Danabek" (Байқоныс Данабек). Page's name currently is spelled from Mandarin, not its original language. Why was move back to the original name labeled as an action that "did not appear to be constructive"? You are slandering me, aren't you? Messhyu (talk) 16:29, 1 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Firstly you didn't get any consensus to decide that. And this seems to be a reoccurring behavior issue. There's an admin warning you about it so its no longer a small matter. Secondly this is a English language Wikipedia so we use what the majority especially official sources say in English per WP:COMMONNAME. Sources like BoxRec and World Boxing refer to him this way. Imcdc Contact 16:38, 1 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
No, that is not "slander". Drmies (talk) 20:34, 1 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Please stop moving things around unless there's been consensus to do so. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 16:21, 1 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
