Question from Sentinelfoxfire (12:53, 13 August 2026)

[edit]

Hi I’ve been looking into whether Nevine Michaan, the founder of Katonah Yoga, meets Wikipedia’s notability requirements for a biographical citation. There’s a range of credible coverage about her, including pieces in The New York Times, New York Magazine, Vogue, Vogue Italia, Yoga City NYC, and other publications. I’d be happy to send you the sources. I’m acquainted with her personally. Should I create a draft through Articles for Creation and disclose my connection there, or first put together the sources and proposed article structure for review? Any light you can shed much appreciated. --Sentinelfoxfire (talk) 12:54, 13 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Sentinelfoxfire, could you please provide the sources? If the particular sources are reliable and have in-depth coverage of her (not just passing mentions), there's a decent chance she's notable. — Qwerfjkltalk 13:08, 13 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
here are several:https://nymag.com/fitness/features/david-regelin-yoga-2012-1/ https://www.yogajournal.com/practice/yoga-sequences/16-poses-to-live-a-more-abundant-life/?scope=anon https://www.vogue.it/article/katonah-yoga-cos-e-come-si-pratica https://www.nytimes.com/2001/01/07/nyregion/a-tonic-for-the-harried.html. There are also multiple other articles about her and Katonah Yoga in Yoga Journal, including one listing her among the 100 most important Yoga teachers in America but it's behind a paywall and I'm trying to find you a screenshot. Katonah Yoga is taught in Asia, Europe and Latin America and there are articles in other languages as well. Sentinelfoxfire (talk) 13:36, 13 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi. Please let me know if there's anything more you need and what next steps I should take. Thank you. Sentinelfoxfire (talk) 11:30, 15 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Sentinelfoxfire, the first article (nymag) is good. The second (yogajournal) just has a passing mention Developed by veteran yoga teacher Nevine Michaan .... The Vogue article is a bit better, but appears to be largely about her yoga style rather thann Nevine Michaan herself. Finally, the nytimes article is probably enough to pass WP:SIGCOV. She probably passes the notability guidelines. You can make a draft through AfC and disclose your COI (let me know if you need help disclosing). — Qwerfjkltalk 14:21, 15 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
thanks for this. I would love help disclosing my COI. Also, should I first attempt a short article and slowly add to it? Of simply propose the whole thing, of about 900 words, from the start? Sentinelfoxfire (talk) 12:49, 22 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Sentinelfoxfire, I would suggest you submit the whole thing from the start, so if any of the wording is non-neutral (etc.) the AfC reviewer can have a look at it and suggest improvements. Qwerfjkltalk 16:00, 22 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. I will put the whole thing in. You’d mentioned coaching me through my COI. Is there anything in particular I should know? Sentinelfoxfire (talk) 16:52, 22 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Sentinelfoxfire, the Wikipedia:Article wizard (for creating the initial draft) has some guidance on how to disclose your COI, so you should be okay if you follow that; but if you struggle, feel free to ask here. Qwerfjkltalk 16:59, 22 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi there--wanted to check in on Draft:Nevine Michaan. It was declined once (promotional tone, sourcing) I fixed those issues and resubmitted and it's still sitting in the queue. Wondering if there is anything in it that might still trip up a reviewer and if the tags/categories might be affecting visibility. Finally is the wait time normal? I ask because the initial submission was responded to in about an hour. Thanks much Sentinelfoxfire (talk) 10:45, 2 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Sentinelfoxfire, if it is reviewed, it will probably be declined again. You have not written it neutrally. Also, you shouldn't write the section headers in all caps. — Qwerfjkltalk 11:16, 2 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
I'll remove the capped section headings. I did my best to write it neutrally and not promotionally. I know you're slammed for time, but are there any clues you can give me to how/where I sounded too promotional or biased? I am happy to remove/rewrite. Thank you Sentinelfoxfire (talk) 11:24, 2 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
┌──────────────────────────────┘
Sentinelfoxfire, well, the draft as is seems mostly to promote the subject and her yoga.
  • Her teaching emphasizes meditative and breath-based practice, and the use of symbolic "maps" for self-study.
  • It was there that over the following decades she refined "a syncretic style of yoga," drawing from a wide variety of influences to evolve what she has called "a practical framework designed to potentiate personal and communal well-being.
  • The whole of § Philosophy and teaching method appears to be promotional / somewhat tangential to the subject.
  • etc.

MassXfD removing previous edit at RfD

[edit]

I wanted to bring this diff to your attention, where the addition of an RfD nomination via MassXfD also removed the previous edit. -- Tavix (talk) 15:34, 21 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Tavix, looks like an edit conflict. I can fix this by using baserevid/basetimestamp in the edit request. I'll try to get it fixed within the next few days. Qwerfjkltalk 16:13, 22 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Tavix, I think Special:Diff/1371284413 should fix this. — Qwerfjkltalk 17:08, 25 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! -- Tavix (talk) 22:22, 25 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Comment/question: I copy-pasted the fix-attempted=yes parameter per guidance on WP:KDL. It was flagged as an Unknown Parameter. I don't know why. I have no idea if the error is your bot or if the parameter is no longer valid. Maybe it should be removed from the guidance page? I'm a relative noob to Wikipedia and think that a more senior editor than I should probably take the lead on that backend matter. Thank you!

StoneDante (talk) 19:11, 21 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

@StoneDante, |fix-attempted= is for {{Dead link}}, not {{Cite web}}. I've changed the help page to make it clearer. Qwerfjkltalk 16:09, 22 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

For old nominations, could the script somehow output a wikicode fragment to copy and paste it for expanding the nomination? Thanks for creating the script! 1234qwer1234qwer4 01:21, 24 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

@1234qwer1234qwer4, I think Special:Diff/1371284413 should work. Let me know if I should change the format. — Qwerfjkltalk 17:09, 25 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

New pages patrol September 2026 Backlog drive

[edit]
September 2026 Backlog Drive | New pages patrol
  • On 1 September 2026, a one-month backlog drive for new pages patrol will begin at a particularly important time for NPP.
  • The backlog has now passed 30,000 unreviewed articles, a level that has been described in current NPP discussions as exceptionally high and potentially difficult to overcome through normal reviewing alone. Backlog drives are one of the few measures that have historically produced a noticeable reduction in the backlog, so the participation of as many active patrollers as possible will matter this month.
  • If you can review during September, please make articles your priority. Every article that is reviewed is a meaningful reduction in the backlog. With the queue at its current size, even a relatively small increase in the number of articles each patroller reviews can add up to a substantial difference over the course of the month.
  • This is a hybrid drive, so redirect reviewing is still included. Redirects can be a useful way for newer patrollers to get comfortable with NPP and can help people build up to reviewing articles. However, the main goal of this drive is to tackle the article backlog, and experienced patrollers are particularly encouraged to spend as much of their available reviewing time on articles as they can.
  • Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled.
  • Each article review will earn 1 point, while each redirect review will earn 0.2 points.
  • Streak awards will be given out based on consistently hitting point thresholds for each week of the drive.
  • Barnstars will also be granted for re-reviewing articles previously reviewed by other patrollers during the drive.
  • If you have been thinking about doing more NPP, this is an especially good month to jump in. Whether you can review a few pages or hundreds, every review helps. And if you are already an active patroller, please consider whether you can put in some additional time during September to help bring the backlog back under control.

massXFD feature request - watchlist and user XfD log

[edit]

Hi, I was wondering if it would be possible for massXFD to automatically add pages to the watchlist as per the user's Twinkle preferences or otherwise, preferences set up within the script itself? Similarly, would it be possible for it to add nominations to the user's Twinkle XfD log or otherwise, a separate log? Again, either per their Twinkle preferences or preferences set up within the script itself. Thanks heaps for saving me from headaches from the very convoluted WP:RFDHOWTO. Fork99 (talk) 02:34, 25 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Fork99, unfortunately I'm not really willing to make those changes. The code for this script is a huge mess I wrote years ago and even bug fixes are a massive pain to implement. Ideally I would rewrite the whole thing, but I haven't found the motivation. I don't like the idea of depending on an external gadget for preferences, and implementing preferences in my own script would be a bit much for me right now. Likewise for logs. Sorry. — Qwerfjkltalk 17:13, 25 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
No worries, thanks for considering anyways. I have a very tiny bit of personal experience with coding nightmares (at university level, years ago), so totally get that. Fork99 (talk) 17:21, 25 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi, on the article, Newfoundland and Labrador Route 3A, I edit it then didn't know about CS1 error until got automated message from the bot saying it had CS1 error. Hoping I fixed it correctly.
