About pipes

Felixstowe Branch Line

Hi Redrose - I see you reverted some changes I made to current preserved locations of industrial shunters. I appreciate they were not referenced but have found myself wondering whether that information is really required. Also when I originally wrote the Felixstowe Dock section I hoped others would fill in the missing blanks. As they have not I am tempted just to terminate the table at the DL11 and add a sentence to the effect of "After that a number of Class 08 shunters have worked in the dock area and these are exchanged from time to time for maintenance purposes". I've made a total of 18 edits to Felixstowe branch line:

• The first nine were on 15 May 2013 which concerned reference formatting (composite diff)
• Two edits on 4 January 2015 to (a) remove editorialising and (b) remove an undesirable comma
• One edit on 20 October 2015 to fix a list format
• One edit on 28 January 2016 to fix up some refs
• One edit on 11 October 2016 to remove some info which I considered superfluous
• One edit on 8 October 2021 to correct a ref format
• One edit on 13 February 2026 which added a wikilink
• Most recently, two edits on 25 June 2026, one of which was a revert, but the second applied the fix that I suspect you were attempting (composite diff)

Reverting Paisley Gilmour Street category

Sorry, but aren't you splitting hairs here? "Paisley Gilmour Street rail accident" redirects to "Paisley Gilmour Street railway station" so the effect is the same, as there is no separate page for the accident. There are numerous other cases in this category where it refers to a location/station rather than an accident, for the same reason. Hyperman 42 (talk) 10:07, 13 July 2026 (UTC)

I will however correct the categories as suggested, as I was unaware that the separate titles existed - they did not come up on a Wikipedia search - but it would have been quicker and easier if you had corrected them yourself rather than reverting them. In fact when I went to the two "accident" pages, it simply brought back the "station" pages and there was no way to put the "accident" links into the category. So I have reverted your undos. @Hyperman 42: First, I did put the cat onto the accident page, see my contribs from that timeframe. Second, it's easy to get back to the redirect in order to edit that - just below the "From Wikipedia, the free ..." notice there will be a link back to the redirect. You can use the "what links here" feature. At Paisley Gilmour Street railway station, locate What links here. In most skins, it's in the left sidebar; in Vector 2022 it may be in either sidebar or in a dropdown menu, depending on your settings. Click that link, then select both "Hide transclusions" and "Hide links", then click Go. This yields this list which has 13 entries as I type this. Five of these include the words "accident" or "crash". You can use the page name link to get to the redirect, which will show its categories (if any) in the usual box at the bottom; there's also an "edit" link by means of which you can see the category markup, and amend if necessary. Only one of the five redirects needs categories; in this case Paisley Gilmour Street rail accidentPaisley Gilmour Street rail accident is the one. Clearly you are right, so thank you for picking me up on that – but presumably the MOS once upon a time said something different, because I think most articles I encounter put the DISPLAYTITLE at the bottom, and thus I had wrongly assumed I was doing the right thing! Something about Micromodels

Hi! Micromodels aren’t that obscure! It was founded in 1941 by Geoffrey Heighway who invented and marketed the first printed card Micromodel. He took the established concept of the printed paper model and miniaturised it. An entire fleet of ships , a building or a set of locomotives and rolling stock could be packed into a small paper wrapper the size of a postcard. My edits fall within both wp:TPFIXFORMAT and wp:TPFIXLAYOUT, and were entirely because of problems caused in the RFC listings. I did not change the meaning in any way whatsoever. Both refs are still there, they may still be compared. Hello my old friend

Heya! I won't pretend we don't have a history of interacting with each other, but I think you'll be able to do this small favour. Last year, you template-protected {{merge}}, {{merge to}}, and {{merge from}} with the reason many undiscussed changes, insufficient use of sandbox, no testing in testcases. Back then, the PAM process still existed and these templates were still in use. In March of this year, PAM was shut down, so the first two templates i mentioned went from having thousands of transclusions to less than a dozen, while {{merge from}} now has less than 150 transclusions of which only 80 are in the mainspace.

For the last 5 months, Oklopfer and I (as well as other PAM regulars) have been working on implementing the consensus at the RfC and the TfD discussions, and we're getting to the last nd most crucial stages of the implementation. So, to address your points one-by-one:

• many undiscussed changes → We have discussed these changes at WT:AFDTODO § Updating templates, which ammassed a grand total of 190 comments, 50 of which were written by yours truly.
• insufficient use of sandbox → the sandbox was edited 82 times since the RfC was closed and we have a working template ready.
• no testing in testcases → Template:Merge to/testcases is fully updated
• (thousands of transclusions) → less than 180 for all 3 templates combined

From my understanding of Oklopfer's comments, we are not ready to deploy the new version just yet, but it would be helpful to have the protection lowered to 30/500 so we can go ahead when we're ready. Thanks! FaviFake (talk) 17:44, 31 August 2026 (UTC)

Hi Redrose64, a while ago, I posted on the WikiProject Electronics Talk page looking for help and noticed you'd replied to some discussions there. As you seem like someone interested in topics related to that project I wanted to reach out to see if you can help with some edit requests. I've been posting a few requests for a company Wikipedia article that is relevant to WikiProject Electronics: Sanmina Corporation. I work for Sanmina and I'm here on Wikipedia on behalf of the company, trying to fix the article up by improving sourcing, and adding details about the company's history from reliable sources. Initially, another editor reviewed a few requests but it looks like they're busy elsewhere now. By any chance would you be willing to review a couple of requests to add some historical information to the article? My most recent requests are to add a short section about the 1990s and expand on details about the 2000s. Legobot

Is this edit pointless? Is the way to get it off Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Wikipedia policies and guidelines to remove the ID number? WhatamIdoing (talk) 18:31, 12 September 2026 (UTC)

@WhatamIdoing: Yes, it's a known issue with Legobot that once it has detected a valid RFC Category (RFCCAT) against an open RfC, the RfC is permanently associated with that category. It will be removed from WP:RFC/POLICY under either of two circumstances - one, the {{rfc}} tag is removed in its entirety; two, that the |rfcid=16A593D parameter is removed. I don't often do this, since (a) it will break existing inward links (unless an {{anchor|rfc_16A593D}} is added); (b) when Legobot assigns a fresh rfcid, this will trigger SodiumBot to send out a fresh batch of FRS messages, potentially to people who already had one for the same RfC. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 19:05, 12 September 2026 (UTC)

It would need to detect the removal of the RFCCAT and act upon that by deleting the row from the `rfc_category` table. At the moment, Legobot's code has nothing that deletes rows from any of its tables - once created, they persist forever. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 22:10, 12 September 2026 (UTC)
