Movie redirection after some sockpuppetry

[edit]

Hi, S0091, i'm having some difficulties regarding a quite difficult situation. Some weeks ago, you redirected the film pages Hacking at Leaves, Die Gstettensaga: The Rise of Echsenfriedl, Solvent (film) (and "Je suis auto", where i'd also see no relevance). I do indeed think the other three are relevant and i'd like to see them rescued.

Problems: I'm aware of the sock/meatpuppet issues before. I work mostly in deWiki and still don't really understand enWikis procedures regarding AfD etc. I noticed the CoI-warning on Razzennest and do not really understand why that was no option for the other three articles. Before i start writing/restoring anything, i guess its better to ask. Is it possible to check/restore the three film articles and cleaning up regarding NPOV as needed, or would that cause even more trouble? What would be the best route to take?

Since i guess its needed here: I do like monochrom from quite a distance since back about maybe 2005, i met Grenz ...twice? on Chaos Communication Congress Events, since i wrote walkthroughs for two monochrom adventure games on my blog. I received one volume of the arse electronica reader and a Mmonochrom CD from him, and that was about 18 years ago (german). I did also see Die Gstettensaga and liked it, last not least i'm quite sure that i am able to write NPOV-articles on stuff i do indeed like. What do you think i should (or could) do? Korrupt (talk) 17:17, 19 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Korrupt thanks for reaching out. I do have a question. How did you come to know those articles were redirected? Like you say, you do not edit en and these articles did not get much attention by readers so it seems odd. Do be aware there has been proven coordinated WP:MEATPUPPETRY regarding Grenzfurthner so I need you to be transparent. Once we get that settled, we can discuss the articles. S0091 (talk) 18:15, 19 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
I know the backstory and i guess i followed it quite from the beginning, and since i guess that makes the difference: Grenz asked me for advice back then, since he wasn't directly involved and he didn't understand everything what was happening with interstellarpoliceman and friends. The sock/meatpuppet issue was quite clearly messed up on their behalf and thats what i told him, too. Some days ago he asked me if it would be usual procedure to start deleting/redirecting articles weeks later, and that was the reason i looked at these here. To me, it looked like an overreaction, and thats the reason we're talking ATM.
In case it matters in this cause: he knows that i'm editing in deWiki AFAIR because of the arse electronica stuff. In deWiki, one of my editing areas is Sexuality/Pornography/Sex Work. No affiliation to austrian artist groups on my behalf. Korrupt (talk) 16:28, 20 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank you @Korrupt. I do really appreciate your honesty. I had already checked your global contributions and did not see the typical pattern as I have seen with others thus did not file an SPI. As far as the characterization you provide about Grenz, I must disagree. Grenz was blocked as part of the group based on a CU's technical findings. See his account Grenz, WP:Sockpuppet investigations/Interstellarpoliceman/Archive and the discussion at interstellarpoliceman. He was involved and that is also proven by other activity between Grenz and the accounts. He was not an innocent bystander in all this; he was a participant, at least to an extent.
Other than that, given your honesty, I will be honest with you. I do not mind explaining why I did what I did. My actions are backed by policy, guidelines and norms. However, much beyond that, I do not want to spend my time engaging with people who are here as advocates on behalf of Grenz/Johannes Grenzfurthner which is exactly what Interstellarpoliceman et. al. was and why you are here. With that, I am pinging @asilvering who was the CU who filed the original SPI for transparency so they are aware of this discussion and also for a bit of guidance. asilvering, Korrupt has been honest so big plus for that but I also think they have a WP:COI so want to get your thoughts. Is this something they should declare/follow guidance or meh, not so much and that seems extreme. S0091 (talk) 19:23, 20 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yes, reaffirming what S0091 said: Grenz was not a bystander. The most innocent possible explanation is that he shared his account with Interstellarpoliceman to do editing on his behalf. As far as usual procedure, yes, it is normal to redirect articles as part of cleanup after sockpuppetry and promotionalism. You are welcome to work on them, however, and you can spin them back out if you like. Of course, other editors may challenge that, and so then you go through the normal procedures (WP:AFD, talk page discussions, etc) to resolve the dispute. Please see WP:EDITCOI (agree with S0091 that you have a COI here). In solidarity, asilvering (talk) 10:10, 21 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks a lot, @S0091 and @Asilvering both for your time and for your trust. I have two small issues left:
- working on these articles: i'd prefer to start from scratch in userspace, and when finished, remove the redirect/refill the article per cut/paste. Thought behind: clean start, but version history preserved. If there are better ways, let me know (again, i'm familiar with the deWiki deletion processes and don't know the handling of the "not really deleted but redirected" process i see here.
- no bystander etc.: just to have it on the record, that was what i was told. my personal guess would go in the "most innocent possible explanation" mentioned above, yet, i wasn't involved and do not know. What i know is that they're an artist collective, i know other artists, and anything artists tell me regarding their chaotic acting, planning and general being will always sound highly believeable to me.
That being said, thanks again. Let me know if i should ping anyone in case something goes live, but i guess it's on the watchlist. Korrupt (talk) 17:01, 21 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Korrupt we posted at the same time but a quick note, you will need through WP:AFC (create a draft and submit it for review). S0091 (talk) 17:06, 21 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks asilvering. @Korrupt to explain a bit more about my process when reviewing some of the articles, I went through the sources and removed ones that did not meet WP:RS or otherwise poor (not independent, brief mentions, etc.), then assessed them against the English Wikipedia's notability criteria, WP:NFILM (note, the criteria here probably differs from de) and my experience at AfD. For example, I removed blogs, sources that relied mostly on what Grenzfurthner said and things like Film Threat because they are essentially pay-to-play so not useful for notability (and I noticed they are generally by the same reviewer, Brian Gibson). Once I went through that exercise, ones that did not meet the criteria, I redirected. For example, I did not redirect Masking Threshold (film). Though it does not technically meet NFILM as neither of sources in the Reception are in-depth critical reviews, I thought making "top" lists by large national publications was enough of an indicator. You can see my clean-up in the history. So to be clear, this was not a thoughtless effort where I just redirected articles just cuz.
I chose redirecting for several reasons. One being, they meet the criteria as plausible search terms so if someone does search for them, they will directed to a related article (a benefit over deletion). Other reasons are because the community generally does not have an appetite to spend much time on those who socked and AfDs are time consuming. Above that, Interstellarpoliceman and group were discovered, in part, because they were gaming the AfD process via meatpuppetry (Grenz did NOT participate in that aspect, at least not with his account). I did not want to spend any more of my time (reviewing them is time consuming) nor the community's time arguing with a bunch of Grenz advocates and you being here proves that is probably what would occur.
As far as Razzennest and other articles, I have not yet reviewed them. Taking a brief look at Razzennest, it does suffer from some the same issues (lots of puffery largely based on what Grenzfurthner said or other non-independent sources) but it likely meets notability or close enough that likely I would not redirect it. If you want to try your hand at cleaning that one up, let me know and I think we can work something out so you do not need to go through the WP:COIREQUEST process. This is not something I usually offer but honesty goes a long with me. If all goes well, maybe I can even remove that COI tag. Also, if you have a reliable source that verifies Masking Threshold (film) won Best Feature Film at the British Horror Film Festival, that would be helpful. Right now I have marked it for failing verification as the current source only supports it was nominated. I tagged it rather than removing it as I figured it probably was true and a source likely exists. S0091 (talk) 17:04, 21 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
First things first, i don't want to waste more of your time than necessary, I have to admit that i do have a quite steep learning curve ATM - its common knowledge (or better: accusation) on the german internet that deWikis relevance criteria were so strict and enWiki would be much more inclusive, but film does indeed look different/harder and i'm feeling confirmed on my "other side=grass greener" theory.
Regarding Masking Threshold: the source indeed verifies the claim, but i also didn't notice at first sight: they just attached the awards quite a way dowm the page, see . Razzennest: again, i do have kind of a bad conscience on the whole issue and would rather try one of the redirected articles on my behalf before keeping you busy with something you already put a lot of time and effort on.
Mostly unrelated, ignore as you like: i'm quite fascinated about the wikipedia culture(s), its reception in society and especially in the "big pictures/models" of collective knowledge management. I wrote something like my "private wikipedia philosophy" a while ago to address typical german social media debates on the oh so restrictive german wikipedia (g.translate via ) and maybe it shines a light on the mentioned learning curve and my general interest in the different self management processes of the different wikis and their general reception.
Again, thanks a lot for your time and goodwill. Korrupt (talk) 18:32, 21 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Korrupt I love the term "knowledge management" because that is what the Wikipedias do and why I hate the whole "sum of all human knowledge" trope and think proselytizing that narrative does more harm than good because it's so not true! Maybe that is not really what you meant but that is what popped in head when thinking about that term. You might be interested in this. S0091 (talk) 19:02, 21 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
That's very funny to hear, @Korrupt. You may find it somewhat ironic to hear that there's only one group of editors, in my experience, who regularly appear at AFC complaining about a decline and arguing that because a topic was acceptable on their wiki, it must be fine. You get one guess as to which language edition they're coming from. In solidarity, asilvering (talk) 01:15, 23 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
@S0091, i'll definitely have a listen, thanks. Agreed on the "sum of knowledge"-trope. Maybe its a translation issue, in german, i mostly talk on "organization of knowledge", but maybe thats just sociological background. I threw in some more links to provide personal background on the now published COI addition on my userpage.
@Asilvering Thats definitely funny, and also somehow enlighting. I'll have to update the blog post regarding that, definitely. My personal opinion is that the difference is caused by the much larger pool of authors covering a larger pool of articles, and the resulting perception is simplified to "more articles -> less strict criteria". To turn this positive: maybe people could get a better understanding if more of these perceptions and their reasons are known beyond the language limits of the different wikis. Korrupt (talk) 10:52, 23 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Korrupt it could also be years ago that was true; de was more strict. I just hit Random article and got Cunt (album) (seriously, first hit), an article created back in 2005. That article would not be acceptable today as is and there's tons of them like it or worse. Even during my time here since 2018, the community thus the guidelines have become more strict. asilvering mentions above AFC and drafts being declined. Probably what we hear most from people creating their first article is they used an existing en article to base theirs on believing that is the standard so their draft should pass. A very sensible approach. However, nine times out of ten, the existing article they used was created when guidelines were less strict. At least for Cunt (album), it probably could pass AfD if someone knows where to find sources. I did find https://www.allmusic.com/album/cnt-mw0000016161.
As far as your COI, you do not need to go into all that detail on your User page. That little box satisfies the requirement or a simple statement if you are not fond of that little box. Something like you met him several years ago and are also acquainted with him through you editing at de will do. If anyone raises any issues/has questions, you can point them to this discussion. Up to you, of course. S0091 (talk) 17:14, 23 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

I'd like to add my view on this. Since the 1990s I had been remotely aware that monochrom existed but only learned about Johannes Grenzfurthner and his various works and activities much later through the existing German and English Wikipedia articles.

His artistic endeveours remind me of Viennese Actionism of the 1960s and 70s which I find emotionally disturbing but somehow conceptually fascinating nonetheless.

I noticed that Eignblunzn had been deleted when I was checking my Contributions list as I had added the Category:Political art in July. I was surprised that the content was removed merely stating "not notable" without any links or other hints pointing to underlying issues. Also the discussion page was empty.

I have not read through the circumstances and concerns mentioned above. But I would like to see the article Eignblunzn and the other deleted content related to Grenzfurthner reinstated as the quality seems to have been reasonable, possibly above average, and I personally would not question the cultural relevance (even if the audience of this kind of art might be limited). Have there been any discussions regarding the wp:Notability question?

thank you for considering this, KaiKemmann (talk) 13:02, 7 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @KaiKemmann first a correction to your statement. Nothing was deleted; the articles were redirected per WP:BLAR. If you have not read through the above discussion, I suggest you do. You can restore the articles but I strongly suggest you add better sources that meet the English Wikipedia's notability guidelines. Do be aware though, "quality seems to have been reasonable, possibly above average" is not how notability is assessed. An article can be well-written with sources that meet WP:V, but notability requires much more. Sources must meet all four of the notability criteria: secondary, reliable, independent and provide in-depth coverage directly about the topic. For films, see WP:NFILM.
One of the issues I came across time and again were the sources were mostly based what those involved/affiliated said/published which are WP:primary and/or not WP:Independent so not useful for notability even when published by an otherwise reliable source (i.e. Die Presse). There were other issue with sourcing as well I note above. For Eignblunzn specifically, I found many of the sources were not about the performance with maybe a brief mention. Hi there! Thank you for giving feedback on my page. I do feel as though the sources have to do with the school, because they either define what the school is, who works at the school, or the school's importance based on its impact on research and policy at local and international levels.

I'm very open to editing this page further, and would be happy to hear more detailed feedback about which sources do not feel relevant.

MichaelGormanEditor (talk) 21:10, 7 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @MichaelGormanEditor in order to meet notability, multiple sources meeting the following criteria are needed: reliable, secondary, independent and have in-depth coverage directly about the topic. Looking at the two NYT articles, one is mostly about what Gottfredson says so not independent and the other is a brief article that also is mostly what the school says. Other sources were published by the school so are primary sources and not independent and others are not about the school. You might find WP:College and university article advice helpful. S0091 (talk) 16:05, 9 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi @S0091 thank you for this detailed feedback - helps me a lot. I'll do more research and circle back - I'll send you a message when I have more notability ready. MichaelGormanEditor (talk) 13:33, 14 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi, hello and Pam Sheyne

The references still need to be moved around a bit (citekill+ in the lead paragraph), and it needs a copy edit, but I think we're good to go! Hope you are well. JSFarman (talk) 17:48, 8 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hey @JSFarman! I am going to go through the discography and remove any that I can't find sources for but had to mow. Most are in her AllMusic profile but not all of them. No need to wait for me as that is something I can do later. S0091 (talk) 18:11, 8 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Category: Songs written by Pam Sheyne. Albums: Unexpected (Sandy Mölling album), Yours Faithfully.Replay (Play album), Camp Rock (soundtrack), Freeway (album) S0091 (talk) 16:05, 10 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
@JSFarman double check my updates. I found some more searching her name in articles to wikilink them. Also, I created a redirect for Pamela Sheyne as she is sometimes credited under that mane and added that category to the See also section but not sure if that's the right place. S0091 (talk) 17:29, 10 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hiya. It looks great. Thanks for doing that. I don't think I've seen the songwriter category pages included under a "See Also" heading in other songwriter's articles, but that's no reason not to do it! JSFarman (talk) 03:01, 12 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Romy Fay is one of the most successful and sought after child actors working today. Her numerous projects include the lead in Arco, which was nominated for an ACADEMY AWARD, and dual roles in Broadway's Leopoldstadt which won the TONY AWARD for Best Play in 2023. She's currently filming THE GOD OF THE WOODS for Netflix. How can someone with her resume and success not be notable enough for a Wikipedia page? If you have any doubt, Romy Fay is referenced over a dozen times in other independent Wikipedia pages. You can also Google "Romy Fay" and you'll get a sense of how big she is. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Laynerosen (talk) 21:14, 8 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Laynerosen can you point to a couple of reliable independent sources with in-depth coverage about her? S0091 (talk) 15:30, 9 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi again,
Reliable sources include USA Today, Daily Express, NPR, as well as multiple interviews.
1. Arco - Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature Film with lead role voiced by Romy Fay. https://www.npr.org/2026/02/14/nx-s1-5702821/its-a-kids-and-robots-world-in-oscar-nominated-animated-film-arco

@Laynerosen to be more clear, I am asking for in-depth coverage by reliable independent sources about her. Not interviews, brief mentions, etc. What she says about herself or what those affiliated with her say is not helpful. Please keep in mind I have already googled her at your suggestion and could not find any sources that meet WP:GNG but that does not mean none exist. Also, keep it to only two. Draft:Saa Vee

How do we get this to the mainspace despite the COI allegations against its creator? Just overwrite Saa Vee? Kailash29792 (talk) 00:05, 10 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Kailash29792 Oh shoot - I did not notice @DareshMohan did work on it and is who submitted it. I will undo the reject so the draft goes back into the queue. Sorry about that, Daresh and Kailash, thanks for asking about it. S0091 (talk) 15:02, 10 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
@S0091: It's best to let that draft, remain unedited and get deleted after 6 months. I do not want to have to do anything with that paid editing user Monhiroe. DareshMohan (talk) 18:51, 11 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
@DareshMohan do you want to withdraw the submission? If so, I can do that for you. If you think the film is notable, you can either create a new draft (like Draft:Saa Vee 2) or turn the current redirect into an article. S0091 (talk) 19:11, 11 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
@S0091: Yes, please do so. DareshMohan (talk) 19:12, 11 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Done. Thank you @DareshMohan for your efforts. S0091 (talk) 19:21, 11 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
